Lake Oneida, NY

I was wondering if anyone in this forum has sailed Lake Oneida, NY, and knows about great boat launches, safe vehicle/trailer parking areas and PERMITS required for out-of state residents ? If yes, please post your replies. Thank You !

Haven't sailed it but about 2 hours from me

I can tell you lake sailing in upstate NY is fun, but the lakes can be choppy and weather comes up fast

Have you thought about cayuga or Seneca lake?? Much larger and several good ramps and parking spots

Finger Lakes are also a great choice.
Be careful with wineries around there...

I know best Cayuga Lake... I lived in Ithica about a year. I´m not up-to date with actual facilities.. sorry.

YES, Quintamala, lots of great wineries there, my concern would be wino jet skiers, they're a PITA even without being buzzed.

Thanks for the Callahan Marina link, I'll be calling them come early Spring. I went on Google Earth and checked out some of the Lake Onieda area, love those 360 street shots where you can Zoom In .

A cool trip would be launch in Ithaca ,head up lake on a reach, drop mast and then Erie canal over to Oneida. One week or less. Email me if you want some logistics help.

I have a cottage in between the lakes if you want a free place to drop truck trailer, about 10 miles up Route 96 from Ithaca

I was also looking at Lake Cayuga, they have the Allan H. Treman State Marine Park (BOATS ONLY) just next to Ithaca, NY. I know that they require permits for out-of-state boaters, that can easily be obtained .

Another launch up north is dean cove? I have launched my x there...the boat, not a down-rev Admiral

Cayuga is shallow up north, unlike Seneca lake next door

Geneva state park is another launch point

hi frank,i spent the summer of 2009 on the lake,lots of fun food and camping.sylvan beach on the east end better known as the redneck riviera is boater friendly and yes fun! the lake is shallow and full of marked shoals,so the weather does come up quick.however you can always see land and in n.y. you can emergency tie up anywhere there is a spot. i live in jamesville 20 min to the lake with trailer parking for anyone with a mac.feel free to call 315-256-4538 facebook has a mac page.some pic of oneida lake and my boat..

I may have to spend a few months in Oh OH OH watching buckeyes bloom and waiting for Highlander to bring his boat down to lake erie.
