New Glass II Update

This message is for you folks that have started using New Glass II on your Macs. I'm curious as to how happy you are with it after using it for a year or so.

I was at the Toronto Boat Show the other day and met a dealer selling NewGlass...he claims that NewGlass in Canada is the same as NewGlass II in the States...I sent an email to the NewGlass website to check on this but haven't heard back yet.

I'm thinking seriously about switching from wax to something like Newglass this year...

The New Glass is sticky and sort of permanent. Hard to get off when it yellows.

I was stalking the ruins of Bayou Grande (Pensacola) a weekend ago and came across a tailored Mac (Knotty M). The black portion was a faded matte from UV exposure. When mine gets like this, I'm going to take a small paint brush, first clean it well, and paint this stuff on it. It's sort of like shellac. It will make it dark again and shiny.

You don't have to do this with the white part. Just wax it, and it will look like new.

Rich - what dealers in the TO area are handling this stuff - tried unsuccessfully to find a Cdn dealer last year - this looks like interesting finish - I'd be interested in hearingfomr anyone that has used it

Hey there.. well speak of the devil... :P

I am very happy with the performance (now that I read the bottle right.. it dries in 30 SECONDS not 30 minutes) and I keep an extra bottle around as a staple now.

Like I said in the first post:
also have hit several docks/launches and left brown and black marks on on the boat.. (who hasn't) which I then used the MaryKate Spot remover on... which got rid of the marks AND the newglass2. So I freaked out a little.

So I used a glass cleaner on the whole boat... then put on 4 more coats of newglass2 and it was back to being 'show room shiny' again. It took less than an hour and I didn't even break a sweat. Well it still beats a screwed up wax/buffing job

I've got the boat covered for the winter but it still looks good. I'll probably add 4 more coats when I uncover it.

I wouldn't use paint to redo the black areas... I did this on my Mac19 Powersailor and it just peeled off after a while... which then required more work to fix... I even used Hi-heat enamel paint.... I prefer the New Glass product.

I actually use the New Glass on the hull sides, and black areas and the top hull sides. Makes the white look good too.

How about Poliglow??? Anyone used that product...it seems to slightly outperform NewGlass in the comparisons I've read..

Ken, I'm not sure of the dealers name but they're at the TO Boat Show...I'm heading there again next week and will get the details and post them here...

I purchased Polyglow from Powersailing Center in Ohio, but haven't tried it yet. If I remember right it was around $50.00 for the kit... stripper, applicator and polyglow.
