Standing rigging- "amsteel"
When I purchased my 26x in September the back stay had a big kink in it. I was thinking of replacing it with "amsteel". Has anyone used "amsteel" for shrouds or back stay

Yes I have, and there are many boats out there with Spectra/dyneema back stays. If you have a large roach main you can put a batten on the top to lift it out of the way in light wind.

Re: Standing rigging- "amsteel"
My backstay tensioning system is part amsteel... fixed one side, up to the stay, than down to a pair of fiddle blocks. (inveted V)
very happy withit. Amsteel shrouds could make the de-reigging alot tidier. Bleedin expensive though

Re: Standing rigging- "amsteel"
I used Amsteel 1/8 inch to raise my 300 lb centerboard on my Potter 19 thru a 4 to one pully system and it bends easy over the 1-1/4 inch rollers. I would ck how well it holds up in the Sun for UV.
I just replaced mine with Stainless all set up thru Blue Waters, think price was $67. about the same buying Amsteel 1/8 with fittings.I added the quick release to allow 2 inch slack so I can pin the headstay.
