My engine stop running after 1/2 hours at 1500 rpm and then 1/2 hrs at 4500. After that the engine star, but after less that a minute stop. Gasoline was ok. My assumption is that the engine overheat. Water was comming out from the engine, but I feel that the engine was hottest that other time. I have not change the water pump in 2 yrs, but I have not use too much the boat, probabley 1 or twice a month. The other alternative could be not enough lubrication. I just did a tune up to the carburator and replace the oil/gasoline filters. Please is somebody has similar issue and can lead me to where is the problem. I will appreciate.
Thanks

Re: Nissan 50HP stop running
I copied/pasted this in from my previous forum comment on Feb 8, 2010.
Here's another possibility to consider. In brief make sure the oil injection is working.
It comes from a painful (expensive) experience with my Tohatsu 50D. (same engine as Nissan)
Your symptoms sound very similar to my experience which resulted in an aborted trip and an engine rebuild.
What caused the problem was an air-lock in the oil injection tubing resulting in no oil being mixed into the fuel. This was the first trip after sitting all winter.
It wouldn't run at full throttle but I was trying to catch up to some slower boats so I charged on. After more than an hour it stopped abruptly. It did restart it several times and it would run for 10 minutes or so. After several repeats of that it wouldn't turn over. After a few minutes it did restart but I was going home by then. I believe the engine was trying to protect itself from overheating - the alarm buzzer should have been sounding but it didn't. There were no symptoms of overheating- no smells or steam from the cooling water outlet. I finally did notice that the oil level in the reservoir seemed to be unchanged from the last top-up. I mixed oil into the fuel tank and managed to get back to the dock. This was a $1600 lesson.

Re: Nissan 50HP stop running
I too had the same experiance and am now rebuilding my engine. the oil injector system quit, I was able to get home at 800 rpm. I am going to disregard all the oil injection system and pre mix when I get done....I already put a 60 hp Etec on the macX and am going to use the nissan on my 16 ft fishing boat....
