Macgregor Decals or namethingymebobs

Maybe I am scrubbing too much, but the name decals (or how ever you call them) on my M26S have been splintering and fading away. I read in a different forum that Macgregor until recently has been really helpful in providing these decals :

I was happy to purchase some if available. Unfortunately things seem to have changed (or did they really run out of their stickers ?) as you can take from the email that I received today:

Silly question ... is the decal on the 26 M or X very different ? What have you guys done (if at all) ?

Bluewater Yachts has many of the decals and plaques available. You should be able to find something that will suit your purpose.

Yeah, I bought a couple about a year ago to put into stock, as I suspected that eventually they go NLA. Hopefully they are still available from dealers - I got mine from BWY.

I have been loading up on MacX extra parts like all the windows, rub rail and a few other hard to find parts. I haven't installed yet as I fear the (don't make them any more) may happen.Some parts even BWY have had problems finding because of out of production or they can't find them.
One of those items is the interior overhead lights that I changed to LED bulbs, I finally found them at a Trailer store in FT. Myers FL.
I also need new decals but will order the Mac.M ones as they are much better than a decal.

Yippee ! Interesting that Sharpmarine states they have none left for the 26S ("The Classic") when on the bwy catalog they are listed as suitable for 25,26C,X and M !Thanks a lot bwygirl, I'll have a look through the whole catalog, there might be a few other things I need

MEK or lacquer thinner will work just fine unless you've painted the boat.

Hey bud.

Next time you see me up there give me a shout. i have some stuff on the boat just for that. all you need to do is pull the sticker off and spray this glue remover on and the glue wipes off with a bit off elbow grease. thats how i got the names off the side of my new X to rename her.

If the boat was painted with quality paint and it is over a month old Lacquer thinner will not soften the paint, and you would have to soak it in MEK to soften the paint.

We have had great success using WD-40 to remove sticky left from stickers to Duct Tape. Spray a cloth and rub-a-dub-dub no more sticky for you bub
Just put some duct tape on the inside liner and use a multitool vibe cutter to make holes. Pulled off the duct tape and had a mess of sticky. Rubbed it all off without a hitch with the WD-40.

Yeah but once that slippery WD40 is on there, how is he gonna stick on the new sticker?

I'd use lacquer thinner.

Guess I forgot to say that after the WD-40 we use joy dish soap and all the WD-40 goes away too. We have tried MEK and thinner and have had it attack the new paint; Where the WD-40 just removes the sticky with out harm to the new paint.
This process has been around quite a while, I learned to use it at several manufacturing firms over the years.

But hey I’m just an enlisted guy and may not have the experience of the “OLLLLLD Salts” on the board.

Goo Gone is great stuff for removing sticky goo too....and it doesnt leave your boat/house smelling like a shoe factory.
