26X factory water tanks - plumbing
Out 2000 26X has only one original water tank/container which we use for the galley tap. The one for the heads tap is missing although the connecting pipe with red connector for the top of the water container is present.
Could I fit a Y connector to join the 2 taps to the one bag? Or would the second tap mess up the operation of the other tap?
Also can the heads water pipe (if extended) be led under the floor to the galley area? Or is the center of the boat solid and would prevent this?
Alternatively, anyone know the thread size of the water container?

gary - you can run a hose from the head, forward into the 'cooler area', then astern just port side of the head door, then turn port and you will come out in the locker just behind the galley (under the seat) - the turn from the head to the locker is the heard one to make - I used a fish tape to make this turn. Ive run wiring this way. Always pull extra wires!!

Gary,
The water bags in the X are standard collapsible camping water containers. You should be able to buy them at any Wal-Mart (or the British equivalent) for much cheaper than putting a Y in the line. I've had to replace mine once or twice in 12 years.

I will do a search of the camping shops tomorrow. We don't have Wal-Mart but I can think of a few places to try. I have already tried a couple of collapsible water carriers but they had much smaller connectors.CFCassidy wrote:The water bags in the X are standard collapsible camping water containers. ASDA is nothing like Walmart unfortunately in this case, or fortunately depending how you look at it. Even though ASDA has been owned by Walmart for some years, it is a very different shop.GeoffR wrote:I think ASDA is your Walmart (since 1999), Boyo !!

Re: 26X factory water tanks - plumbing
I found a suitable folding water carrier at The Range for £3.99 (in the UK). The pourer is a bit short but it works.
However, the heads tap doesn't work. I took it apart and it all seemed OK. there was a marble ball in the bottom of the main body ( I assume to act as a valve) and there was a simple mechanism inside with a large black rubber washer which looked OK. It stripped it down a few times but it doesn't create and suck.
Are these repairable?

Yes, and they usually don't even need spare parts to fix them. Try lubricating the o-rings inside with a *light* amount of Vaseline (petrolatum jelly) - this will help seal it better. When you raise the handle the suction should lift the ball off the seat, then when you pump down it should let the ball drop back onto the seat and the water will come out the spout. It is a dead-simple pump, and pretty fool-proof, though it *does* need to be upright to work. There's no real rebuild-kit, per se - just buy some o-rings of the right size (though having said that, they almost never need replacement).Gary N wrote:However, the heads tap doesn't work. Of course, the thread size of the water container can be differ on the usage. Maybe you can hire a plumber to check the hose of your water tank. In order for you to be more comfortable.
