I FOUND A (BIG) BOAT

Post by pokerrick1 »

Amazing - - - I started out looking for something in the 26' to 32' range in a slip and I just found (and will buy pending the survey) a 2004 44' Carver Cockpit Motor Yacht Model 444, for which I will be overpaying substantially - - - but I have had a VERY, VERY good year playing poker so far, and I won't live THAT much longer - - - so scr** it :!: It was advertised as the largest boat on Lake Mead and comes with a COVERED slip. The boat looks pretty pristine to me.

Amentities include: Bow thrusters, autopilot, engine oil change system, air-conditioning, a BIG diesel generator, freshwater washdown, transom shower, full canvas, Under LED water lights (6), 6 man canister Life raft, transom storage locker, bridge wetbar w/icemaker, exterior stereo system, 12CD disc changer, central vacuum system, TV/DVD in both staterooms and Plasma TV in Salon, Satellite TV with 3 receivers. Marine electronics package includes, radar, VHF, GPS/plotters, VHF, fish finder. The captain's cabin is quite nice and both staterooms have heads and showers (the captain's head and shower is HUGE). The salon is very big and looks great and has a feature I LOVE - - - a sliding glass door on the port side which opens to a walk around gunnell (this must have been a custom item) It has twin Cat Diesels and one can eat off them they are so clean! The boat has only been on Lake Mead for it's six year existence. It has no sails :P :D

Thursday morning I have arranged for a surveyor I know and trust from Marina Del Rey (I am not so TOTALLY stupid as to use a local guy) to fly here and survey the boat - - - if he says OK, I take possession Saturday.

I cannot wait to get back on the water :!:

Rick :) :macm: Less - - - but not for much longer

Sounds awesome. Now you have to keep playing poker so you can feed it.

Holy cr@p!
That's quite the departure from an "M".
Be sure and let us know how the shock of going from
$0/hr to $80/hr cruising affects the old heart muscle!

Good for you, and Congratulations,
Laurie

Don't forget, Glenn, I'm on a Lake. not the Ocean - - - I would do it out of Marina Del Rey - - - but not here - - - would be very hard to organize - - - and - - - if you got caught - - - the Nevada Gaming Commission would probably take it very seriously and throw the book at you. Not worth it! This is going to be expensive enough to operate! Although I don't imagine it will leave the slip all that often. Who knows? We'll see! We'll probably hold a party or two on it :) :D

Rick :) :macm: Less but not for long

PS will be ABOUT $750/month for the slip + electricity (holds 400 gallons of diesel - - - $2,000 fill up?) I filled up my M in the marina from empty for $120 :|

Congradultions,

so you bought a stinker-boat. You can still install a mast & small sail which could help increase your downwind drift. If you should capsize or breakdown, I know a guy who can rescue you in a antique 26` CristCraft. Did you happen to see if those kids ever got that boat operating.??

If I ever make it out to Vegas I can show you how to set up a poker game without any trouble with the Gaming Commission.. Its not a crime to play for fun OR reputation..

Good on you Rick.
I have just looked one 'up' ( http://www.boatquest.com/Carver/Motorya ... Boats.aspx )
and I would have no problem living on it.
That would be a very nice option, and probably more comfortable than living on a Mac...(.sorry! sorry!....I know it is a Mac board)

Got 2 mates with Bayliners both about the same size (I do know one is a 48' Pilothouse) and although they don't live on them, it certainly would be a comfortable lifestyle with million-dollar views.
Lindsays is up for a bottom clean right now and yep, there is bucks involved, but you either spend it or or die wishing you had!!

Good lifestyle choice, and best of luck.
I am actually envious.

Cheers

Or do it the American way...Charge it until you can't charge it anymore. :)

What are you talking about mate. My daughter and SIL ain't Americanos, and when they earn an extra buck, they immediately borrow 20 against it. Pa has been saving their house (and ar#$) for the last 18months. Just as well him and Ma work hard and save!!

I still wish you well with your nex boat Rick....still jealous too.

Cheers
