Pictures taken from your MacGregor

Post by Gary N »

Post your pictures here. The rules are simple. The photos must be taken from onboard your Mac and must have some part of the Mac visible in the photo.

I took these today during a military display where we had a ring side berth to watch.

This one below is not valid because there is no part of the Mac visible However, it was pretty cool being almost directly under the Sea King as it banked. Seconds after this photo the downdraft caused too much spray to take any more photos. Hopefully we will never find ourselves under one of these again.

Okay. I have a bajillion pictures so I will play.

Here is Inquisitor (Dennis, Renea, and Jamie from Atlanta) trying hard to pass me on a fantastic beam/broad reach Southbound in the Atlantic during the 2009 Jacksonville Macgregor Get Together...but he never did catch me... 8) What a FANTASTIC day that was!!!!!

Image

And just to stick with the original helicopter theme. This is 2007 near the mouth of the James River in Norfolk, VA...US Navy helicopters drag these floating "sleds" to search for mines. I sure hope this was just a training run... :D There was a high-speed Rib zooming around to "shoo" boats out of the way. But we were close enough to feel the downdraft of this massive CH-53.

Image

I normally try to ensure I don't have pieces/parts of my boat in the pics but sometimes you can't help it. See more of my sailing pics on my website.

Cheers,
Jim

Here is one of my favorites, but not as exciting or picturesque as some of the others here. :) But it means Home to me.

Here are a couple taken on Narragansett Bay:

Ponham Rocks Lighthouse:

Rose Island Lighthouse at the entrance to Newport Harbor:

In many of my photographs I take great pains to keep the parts of the boat OUT of the picture. So although this one violates the "rules" of this thread, I include it anyway since it is one of my all-time favorite photos. It was taken in Newport Harbor at anchor while waiting for the July 4th fireworks to start. The Queen Mary came in and anchored just south of Rose Island. The photo is a panorama of 3 photos stitched together:
