C'mon, give Kevin a break. He's entitled to eight hours of sleep, plus an occasional breather to eat, etc., etc. I think he's even entitled to short periods of unpaid leave, now and then. Who knows? Maybe he's been off sailing.

Were you at Philmont? We did Philmont in 2006...it was AWESOME! Best camping experience of my life.

Yep! Took my two sons, 14 & 17 years old, on my 40th anniversary of my having gone to Philmont.

I never had the opportunity when I was a scout. But going with my 17 year old son back in 2006 was great. It helped that we had such a great group of scouts (14 youth...12 young men and two young ladies) and adult leaders (8 adults...6 men and two ladies) all from the flatlands of Southern Georgia. We had to drive up North of Atlanta to hit the Southern end of the Appalachian Trail for our practice hikes. All in all it was a 17 month process from when we all signed up and started training together until we actually made the trip out West.

I would love to be able to go back someday.

Spam preventer? Anything like a boom preventer?

You could rig it the same way, couldn't you - tie a 3/8" nylon line around the spammer's neck, run it outboard of the shrouds, and cleat it off at the bow.
