26X Stern Rail seats
26X Stern Rail seats
I have seen that there is a company offering stern rail seats for the 26X. Has anyone installed a set of these and what are your thoughts? I've always liked the concept and am interested in the extra seating.

Besides sitting the stern rail seats are a great place for the extra gas tanks when long distance cruising , a great place to put the fish pail or cooler or case of 24 brews. When on auto pilot its the perfect place to troll from. It's also kid of cool to, as Kayak Dan likes to do, sit on while steering with your foot.

accidently bought the zero feedback steering system when I replaced mine 3 yeras ago. Auto locks in place when you let go. i have been a passenger on my own boat several times especially when on a close haul.

Re: 26X Stern Rail seats
i'm not sold on the stern seats for the X. the way they are set-up, with the cable/lifeline running across the rear, it looks like access thru the helm is limited (or a hassle).
if i owned an M, i would definitely install them. that is, they go with an M and work w/ an M, but not w/ an X.
that said...$1,000 is some serious change

Custom-made stern rail seats for the MacGregor 26X. Made from 1/2" marine-grade polymer and stainless steel tubing. Each seat includes a built-in drink holder! We even include a back lifeline gate between the seats. Recommended weight limit is 260 lbs. per seat. Patent Pending. Item #26XSS. $949.99

Re: 26X Stern Rail seats
You gets what you pay for !!!
The Dowsar stern seats are what you'd call pardon the expression Big A$$ seats with lots of room to move around very comfy . K/H & BWY sell stern seats for alot less but they are also alot smaller in size OK if you've got a small Butt or not planning on sitting on them very long !
Also the lifeline gate has an opening end so it is easily opened for transome entry ????

Re: 26X Stern Rail seats
I can't see the need for them on an X, the cockpit is so much larger than an M cockpit you really don't need the extra seating area.
All I've seen at BWY are the ones for the M which they were also providing at one time to Kelly Hansen but have since stopped.
We just use these, much cheaper and very comfortable.
