That's almost exactly where the mast-raising strap eye is on a 26X. I did pretty-much the same on Bossa Nova (replacing the strap eye with something stronger) when I was replacing the bow cleats, except that I installed a Wichard folding padeye (4000# MWL) and put an 18-inch length of 2x4 lumber under the deck as a backing plate. I planed the 2x4 to the best fit I could get, and "bedded" it with Gorilla Glue to fill in the rough spots that I couldn't quite match.
Frankly, I maybe could have used a storm jib yesterday - I was ghosting back to harbor under my gennaker alone, when a gust front took it under the headstay for a proper gift-wrap. Had the devil's own time getting it under control ... I finally was able to motor downwind fast enough to relax the chute's mad flapping and get the Chutescoop down. (Thank heavens for the Otto-pilot!) All the while the boat is bucking under me and I hadn't rigged jackstays down the deck....
That evening, I found the local airport had the winds at that time as "15 mph with gusts to 24 mph".

If I'd known that I wouldn't have unrolled the regular sails for the quick romp I had back into the Middle River - laid over 20 to 30 degrees and feeling rather challenged. Bossa Nova took good care of me going home, but it wasn't easy sailing.
