SE MacGregor Get Together in 2010?

Post by RNC725 »

Have learned we have five (5) Macs at our sailing club and the club would like me to speak to the 'board' on Jan 11 with ideas on the proposed getogether. What all would the club need to provide? Offer? How long are we talking -- a 3 day weekend/less?/more?

Give me your thoughts and I'll run with them as best I can. Again, we have 2 ramps with parking, showers, ice machines, courtesy docks and 1,200 miles of shoreline, TONS of which are Corp of Engineers land, perfect for gunkholing. A marina is a couple of miles away for fuel on water.

We are located on Clark Hill Lake (also known as Lake Thurmond), east-central Georgia. A

Just let me know -- it could be a great time for sure!

I would be interested in this get together. I am south of Atlanta, and have been in your area riding the FATS moutain bike trails. I could not tell from the trails how suited the lake was for sailing, but your comments make it sound promising. I did notice the lake level has been drawn down to winter pool. The area is very pretty and could make for a nice biking and boating weekend.

Come on down! As I mentioned we have 1,200 miles of shoreline -- perfect for gunkholing! There is a nice place particularly, Bussey Point WIlderness Area, about 20 miles of trails with a horse trail that circles the peninsula for about 12.5 miles. It's flat to be sure but a nice ride. The water level is 327.5 which is 2.5 feet below full pool. The Corps 'says' they will try and keep it around 328 would be wonderful, but even at 325 or so it's still quite nice.

Let me know what other info you'd like or if you just want to drive down and take a look, I'll be happy to take you out on our boat or just show you around our sailing club.

Fairwinds,

Bobby

I can't find Clark Hill Lake or Thurman Lake on Google???? What is the closest city? Wife and I would be interested in attending as spectators as we are Mac-less at this time and would be greatly interested in seeing some Macs upclose and personal. :) When are u planning this outing?
