Pictures of first trip out (large files)

Post by SPC Paul »

I do have a few pics of my first time out. (A few of ya had asked for some) These were taken while I was on leave after Iraq, in August. It was a great day, and the best part was my mom clinging to the rail in fear everytime we heeled over. But she calmed down by the end and when we got back she kept asking when we could go again.

My step-dad and I rigging the boat. (Rehersed this in the yard a few times, got it down to 20 min.)

My step-dad and I trailering the boat. Had absolutely no problems with docking. (Second time out was a little shaky...)

Can't wait for next season. Western Lake Superior is some of the most beautiful sailing in the midwest.

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing them. The high resolution looks great (and fits) on my 1920 X 1200 screen. 8)

I remember how intensely "green" everything looked when I got to the Midwest after 3 years ('84-'87) in Saudi Arabia. You can add "wet" to that too! :D

Welcome back... and thanks again for what you did for us and our country.

Hi Jared - Welcome home. If you keep your gas can in the lazarette, I suggest you vent it.

Yeah, I had already planned on making a slight mod to that setup. The previous owner had made a somewhat shoddy shelf in the laz for the fuel can, however there is no vent, and he just ran the fuel line out the hatch. Subsequently, the line gets pinched by the hatch and cuts off the fuel flow. (See pic 2) Both problems will be corrected come spring. (Or maybe winter if I can dig my way to the boat)
