Texas Macgregor dealer????
We don't have one dealer in the whole state of Texas! Call me if you a Texan and have a 26M, are willing to show, demo and assist/deliver/make the new owner happy etc. It could be your hobby is now tax deductable (see your tax man and don't take my word for it). There are boat shows in Texas we don't go to and should go to. We might pay and let you do the work! Texas is not alone, there might be some persons near you who need to see the Macgregor. PM is fine or just call the factory (phone # is not allowed here for obvious reasons).

I'm a Texan now, but have an X. Now if someone were to send me a free M, I might be persuaded to help out. My boat is at Matagorda Bay , and I work in downtown Houston. Work keeps me pretty busy though.

Re: Texas Macgregor dealer????
If I owned an "M", it would be nice (& fun) to participate. But...as Craig mentioned above...Im also an "X" owner. And, my spare time is quite limited at present.
The Mac is an ideal boat for this Southern Gulf Coast area...it's a boating area bonanza, with good sailing, sights, family entertainment, fishing, and ICW in my specific area.
During holidays, and some weekends, its wall to wall "friendly" boats on the water in my vicinity.

We can't post phone numbers, makes sense to me. But the factory number is easy to find.

Mike,
I live in Texas and own an M but am so busy this year that I didn't even get my boat in the water. If I had anything like a regular schedule I would help you out for nothing. Well maybe you could spot me a spare part once in awhile. I have an LLC already so it wouldn't be hard to expand it to include sailing services. But then I don't even have time to do my day job and my night job (LLC) and take care of pressing family issues that have been quite demanding this past year already so until I retire and drop at least one of my 40 hour a week jobs, I'm no good to anyone.
I haven't even logged on this website for 6 months or so. Maybe I'm going crazy. All work and no play makes JonBill a dull boy!!
What happened to Lance (Sail Venture) over in Baytown? Is he still in business? He took over when Frank retired. I bought the last M that Frank sold.
Luis, if you read this Layla Grace went through round 5 of chemo and has some improvement in her condition and we are awaiting her test results this week that will determine the treatment protocol from this point forward. Thanks for all your prayers. I'll call you when she's better and we have time for sailing again. When that time comes I will need to borrow your lift to finish my bottom job. Hope you and family are doing well.
Kind Regards,
JonBill

I don't know what happened to the dealer who replaced Frank at Sailventure. We have no dealer now. we are in production making one boat per day, just what California allows us. Need some folks in Texas to demo the boat for the inquires we get. Possible, a boat show now and then. A work in progress! More later. Call the factory if interested

I don't want to turn this political, but I am curious; what business of California is it, how many boats a day that Macgregor builds?

From what I have heard and understand, it's tree huggers vs uncured epoxy.
That may be deluded and overly simplistic however.
No, I don't mean the tree huggers, but the low production rate.

Rich, Russ - fly into LA someday and look at the air, and you will understand why the regulate VOCs.
Until you have seen orange air, you wont believe it.

Re: Texas Macgregor dealer????
It is VOCs limits that forever limit Macgregor to 10,000 lbs of solvents per year, about 240 boats of the size of a 26M. We can make one a day. As to moving out of Newport Beach, forget it! No one here would leave. Next project is a 70' epoxy Macgregor. Epoxy does not count for much on the VOC limit. New boat to be under a mil, still the best buy in a superboat on the planet.

Re: Texas Macgregor dealer????
I spoke to the factory yesterday, needing a "new mast running light" switch. Anyway, I was told that Sailventure's owner "retired"...He does maintain a boat storage lot in nearby Baytown, Tex., and a local Mac owner in my Marina was in touch with him a few weeks back concerning the use of a Mac trailer.mikelinmon wrote:I don't know what happened to the dealer who replaced Frank at Sailventure. Re: Texas Macgregor dealer????
Mike....
On the West Coast, it;s a lot different than on the Gulf Coast... It's a whole 'nother world in a lot of ways...
Boats kept in Marinas in SoCal are in a different world - costs, sailing conditions, etc, etc.
There is a lot of Texas interest in something that you can trailer and get away from the water - in some parts of the year. I have always felt that "IF" you needed to advertise, or wanted to open up another operation, that there was a LOT that could be made of this point. I hope, that if you come to some of the shows in Texas - that you could get a sense of that marketing angle here.
The web being what it is... something could be done about local co-operation with a Texas sales outlet as well....
*************
If you get a chance, it would be good to visit the Casita RV company in Rice, Texas. Another EXCELLENT organization - and very good products... You get a sense of how good in that used Casisas sell FAST on CL/Ebay/Local/RV club sites... 10 year old models are not discounted from retail much - either... There is a lot there to pick up on "technique" wise...
