26X and Tubing

Post by cavanman »

I have kids who like to tube and ski. They think sailing is "gay". Being a good dad with an oversize motor on my Mac26X, can anyone suggest how I might rig the boat to at lease pull a tube? TIA

Might want to do a search on this forum, as it's been discussed before in detail. However, I can tell you that I created a bridle between the two rear cleats, and I then tied a sliding knot for the rope to the tube to that bridle... that way it distributes the load and does not pull the boat sideways.

BTW... it's "Ghey" :)

You could do as Kevin said to do it right.
We just attached the tube line to a stern cleat. Simple, done. Kids had a blast. They wished we could go faster. Enjoy your time on the water.

Let them watch "White Squall " , "Master and Commander", "Wind" , etc. this winter to help cure them with associational therapy.

Being an X owner with an oversize motor, I also did as Russ suggested. I just threw the eye of the tow line over one of the rear cleats and took off. With the larger motor, I never noticed any pull sideways. And these were big kids as seen in the pic. If you look really hard, you can see the tube on cabin top. . . . . .

Skiing or wakeboarding, I would use a bridle or possibly rig a pole.

Note to Billy - don't let your inflatable boat blow up into your rigging.

Just sayin'.

Billy, it's good to see that your "big kids" are all wearing personal inflatable floatation devices :D

The extra benefit of having a big engine :P
