Yes,when I lived on Alki Beach in Seattle,WA we would invite everybody from the Alki Tav, The Embers nightclub next door and sometimes the band playing the Embers that night, at closing time, grab a keg and have a grand old time. The police would show around 3-4AM because there were cars/people everywhere and after a try to keep it down please from them, they wanted to know if they were invited to the next one.David Mellon wrote:Hey Rob! Had good weather going over to 2 Harbors but returning this Tuesday morning the 21st of July , the fog 7 miles out was very thick all the way back to Alamitos. Scary thick. We barely saw 2 container ships and one was moving towards us. We missed it by 50 feet. Another boat we missed as it came right at us on the same GPS track.
My GPS took me right into the channel as it was supposed to. What a blessing to have a GPS. I used up 3 of my 7 lives today.

Hello Sailors,
I'm glad you are back safely and that you had a good time on the island. Perhaps I can join you in September.

had horrendous weather going over fri. night, but a great time at the island. Checked out the string line and because of the whaler the harbor master said the boats are to close for me to stay there. Lucky harbor master found a mooring on "R" for us. Really could have stayed at any mooring, I like 4th july cove and cherry cove, both a bit far from the dinghy dock. Finally met Dave Clark, after all these years.
My nephew and his friend came with me and although I have been trying to get My nephew to go out on the boat since I bought the mac, they had a ball. They want to go back next month, do a big BBQ on the beach, kick back at bit more. Scuba is on their mind and are getting certified soon. Im certified but havent done it in 15 years, so get into shape, and refresh for me till then.
We were blessed with flat calm seas going back Monday, with some wind and I enjoyed a stress less 4 hour sail for about twenty miles. Didnt get to meet all the mac people there, I wanted to, but next time. The agenda with two 30 year olds pretty much took all the time up, the whaler is a nice addition to the island as it gives us the freedom to travel pretty far, we toured the coves and open waters half way to Avalon. But it is a bit of a hassle to bring. The new engine on the mac towed it without working hard and thats one of the reasons I went with a bigger motor for the mac. Next time over we should plan to have a BBQ with all the mac people get together one of the afternoons. I have enjoyed the company of many mac people over the years and would look forward to a get together.
everyone scrambling for a camera, got a catch the memories

The promised photo of the 115 on the mac

Ted, my nephew, good looking kid, back to the island after eighteen years, says he missed it.

Really enjoying the pics (& stories!) of your trips to Catalina. Hope to join in one of these trips
Re: 2 Harbors this weekend July 18th
aya16, i stopped by a few times and your small whaler boat was gone so I guessed you were fishing. Dave Clark said you stopped by. I had my niece with us and I was showing her the hiking and snorkling at 2 Harbors so I was kinda busy too.
I was impressed with your 120HP engine. Just how fast does your boat go? Any problems trailering? Any mods to the transom to accomadate the large engine?

You're going to have to do alot more post padding than that to get your Admiral's star, Steve.

Steve, good to hear from you again, Did you get the 60HP engine? I thought you might come over to 2 harbors but it was a short notice trip. How was your Euro cruise?

BK we were bizzy bizzy to, the 115 just got broken in on the trip over,(hit the ten hour mark) I like it, just going the speeds I used to with the 50 is now 3000 rpm instead of 5000. I dont trailer much, if at all except 300 feet to the launch ramp, so no problem trailering. I did stop by and see dave, and a couple other macs, missed yours I think, where were you moored?
Made the transom over two inches thick with marine plywood, overkill for sure. Did that more to get less vibration than anything else.
Had a great time, My nephew is a neat freak and the cabin never looked so good and organized. time to go again soon, One thing, I was a victim of debit card fraud, Im pretty sure it happened on the island. Only place the card was used and left my sight was to pay for dinner saturday night, monday morning my card number was used to send a western union money gram for 650 bucks, Ill get it back but learned to not use those debit visa cards when I have to pay for something through a third party, dont let anyone walk away with it for a short time. They tried to get a thousand and because visa couldnt get a hold of me to verify, it was denied, but they approved 20 minutes later for 650, go figure....

Bob, Never followed thru on the engine.... spent 75 bucks and got a survey done. The mechanic could not believe that the engine was 11 years old. Spent the money on a tune up and will keep it to it stops running. WIll PM you with the cruise report from the western med. It was too short notice for a run to 2 harbors.

Aya, I hope you notified 2 harbors restaurant about the CC ripoff. The waiter needs to be identified to the management.
A pattern will emerge and the waiter sent to another island in the San Francisco Bay or a place like it. I feel the management should reimburse you as well as the bank and give you a reward of some sort for all the hassle and stress.

Mike,
I cant help but notice how nice and level the waterline stripe is with that 115 on.
