lowering the center of gravity

Post by emailnomad66 »

Hi,

I was toying with the idea of modifying/upgrading the daggerboard by adding more weight, to lower the center of gravity. I would like to have this boat more stable.

Suggestions on how much the boat can handle, what sort of performance degradations I could expect, along with experiences, are highly appreciated.

Regards,

The most I've heard added was the 500# board and bulb on the custom boat BWY built. Others have done less.

You can read about it here

It did however require special glass reinforcement to the trunk and dagger board.

Do the math before you dive into it, you really don't gain much by just adding say 100#.
