Re: I AM OFFICIALLY MACGREGORLESS
Rick,
This post has gone a little sideways, but I am referring to back to your original posted msg.
(I've been out sailing for three days, pardon me!)
Occasionally I've found myself in a position to do some slight good for a few people on this planet.
It's no big deal. I (used to ) make way too much money and I've spent a little of it helping a few people out.
I've read your often humorous, sometimes poignent, posts for several years. You've shot me some
encouragement/advice once in a while. Your comments have always been appreciated.
This business of handing off your boat to a nice family for cheap is frankly stunning to me.
I don't get all wanky about movie ideas like "pay it forward", but I have some vague intrinsic understanding the things
you do and the way you live come back to you in multiples. I practise it, but I don't run into it very often. Good for you.
If you're ever in Alberta,
I am the world's worst poker player,
Look me up,
Laurie.

Hi Rick,
Sad indeed about being boatless. I've been there just now. Sold the 26D and bought a Venture 23, was boatless during the rigging time of the 23. You should be ready for another Mac any day now. Jeff and I miss seeing you in MDR, course we miss MDR even without you. Know you are having a good time in Vegas. There is another storm comming, want to be in a movie? It wont hurt, just a little sting.

PS MDR has got to be one of the overall best places to sail out of in the world - - - such great weather, winds and destinations.

Re: I AM OFFICIALLY MACGREGORLESS
Ive been in this position a few times. When the Lord has been good to you it is good to pay it forward. I dumped my old car and had a couple of people looking at it - some college kids offered 4000 bucks and I ended up selling it to a single mom, working 18 jobs to make ends meet, for 1500 bucks. I didnt feel 2500 bucks poorer, I felt 1M richer...

Re: I AM OFFICIALLY MACGREGORLESS
That's it, Steph. The couple I sold it to - - - he works three jobs and she works two and they have a 4 year old boy and 5 year old girl and they have a hard time finding things they can afford to do with the kids. I can make more money if I need to - - - they can't!
Rick
less in Las Vegas
PS Of course Richandlori and the RW MIGHT feel differently?- - - if he does he can start a thread in the back room.

I can tell you that Rich has a heart of generosity that is as large as anyone I know..its a bit dangerous to characterise someone from their posts...especially a 'trouble-maker' like me..

Such troublemakers are very welcome on my decks........especially a 'trouble-maker' like me.
Sometimes, we all have to go against the flow
