Bwa ha ha ha....

Post by AKCoastie »

So I have been lurking on these forums for about a year and a half now. My wife has been been giving me crap about talking about every aspect about the Mac before I bought one. Now, very unexpected, we are buying a 2002 X that we are picking up Fri. Now, she is freaking excited, especially since I told her we can decorate together. She loves the wood look on the inside, which give me an excuse to get my hands dirty. Can't wait! She will be a mariner yet.

Congrats (for having an excited and interested) wife and good luck with the boat. Now you have to decide if you want to risk the wrath of the sea gods and rename her (the boat not the wife).

I don't think she has a name yet. What's the procedure if that's the case. Here is a pic I took of her last year when I was looking at her. Won't pick her up till Friday.

There are several posts on naming in the archives. And BoatsUS has a list of most favorite names used, but seriously if you don't name the boat after your wife - she will get it in the divorce every time.

Awesomeness.

Naming: You must recite the name 3 times while waving your arms to the left then 3 times to the right. Then you must repeat 5 times "I name thee (insert name)" and then you may shop for boat letters.

Remember that you will have to clearly enuciate the name 3 times when calling for assistance on the radio. This was not high on my priority when we named our boat "Two Degrees Out". Four sylables is about as long a name as I would want.

The boat was named in honour of my wife going back to school (at 40++) and getting her degree. Since I already have one its an inside joke.
