Are there more fellow painters out there?
Stephen,
As someone who has had photography as a hobby for close to fifty years, I have too much respect for it as an art form to consider you, and any other photographer a "fake artist"

Some years ago - never mind how long precisely - having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen, and regulating the circulation. Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people's hats off - then, I account it high time to get to the sea as soon as I can. This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the ship.Hamin' X wrote:The Greatest White of all, Moby Dick.bscott wrote:Who rules the sea--a fierce Great White OR a ponderous Blue Whale (Balaenoptera musculus)![]()

Thanks Ray! I use Acrylics and sometimes use oil for a few highlights on an acrylic underpainting. I like seeing both photos and artwork by others too! I'm not so good with a camera. That painting of an X and M is on a little 8x10 canvas.NiceAft wrote:I like it Doug. I can not tell from the posting. What is your medium? Mine are all in water color.

I'm thinking port tack, close hauled, or maybe close reaching, but definitely heeled over.A bow painting of the X and M side by side would look great! Are you thinking heeled over some on a reach or a more serene leisurely sail?
