Those are wooden knobs I stained to kinda match?? and I cut the heads off #10 screws . I pilot drilled the liner and with just a drop of 5200 turned em into place. The Polish Curtain rods as you see are bungee cords I looped the ends of , then I laced the loops and then...just to be sure all would hold I used some clear shrink tube on the loops . They are easy on and easy off.Nautek wrote:Hi Divecoz

Scott?? I wondered if anyone would notice that ..... and we dance by the light of the moon.... It had significance for us, because we did just that one night sitting on the hook in cape bay ....up on the deck one night after a couple glasses of wine and with some soft music filtering up from below and ( sing it Donna Reed ) "we danced by the light of the moon"
I have lots more pics to post, and they will be, I hope, better pics no doubt...... I also need to show folks , a lot better, how and where I mounted pumps and ran hose and wired this and that and maybe explain how to get the best looking job you can when using 5200

Several things that will make your life easier with Photobucket and MacGregorSialors.com...Divecoz wrote:http://s717.photobucket.com/albums/ww17 ... g&newest=1

1) In Photobucket, on your page with the thumnails... under the thumnail should be a link "Link options". Hit that and you are presented with a page... on the "Get link code" tab, you should uncheck all items BUT the "Direct link for layout pages."
2) Then back on your thumnail page, click on the text "Direct Link" under the thumbnail you want. You should get a tooltip saying "Copied".
3) Go to Post editor in MacGregorSailors and hit the "Img" button above... and then "paste" (Ctrl-V or right mouse click... paste) and you should have it.
Voi-la...

Now would you be so kind as to show me pictures of the ladder I've been chomping at the bit over...
Thanks.

Re: Just a few of my mods
Ahhhhhhhhhh that one? Boy was I disappointed with that one!
Not the idea or how it worked in the begining but how short lived the LEDs were in my Light Bar , and even the shorter life so far of the LEDs in my after market trailer light package. I have had no problems with LEDs in and on my boat but those LEDs associated with the trailer... so far very disappointing.

Nice mods Dive
ive been working on my x this weekend, ive fitted the VHF,and ive started on the galley,im not a great woodworker so its going to be more functional than a work of art.I was looking at fitting some curtains,i was thinking of fitting a wooded dowel and hanging curtain wire off of it.

Re: Just a few of my mods
We worked for the last 3 days on different little upgrades like rings for the anchor bitter ends mounted in and on the front of the anchor locker each have 4 screws and brass backing plates, this will help keep the bow cleats free of extra knots and line. Another is we mounted 2 cam cleats on the anchor locker to handle the Chute Scoop up and down lines for our A spinnaker, which is totally controllable from standing inside the front hatch. We also added cam cleats with fair-leads on the port side of the deck to replace the one that was there for the roller reefing jib line and the new one for the cockpit adjustable tack line for the A-spinnaker. Today between spring showers I am installing ratchet blocks and cam cleats just above the radio speakers in the cockpit to handle the A-spinnaker sheets in light air when a winch is not needed. We also installed a soft sided fair-lead on both sides of the cockpit beside the safety line posts to hold the spinnaker sheets out of the water. We added a 4 to 1 on our dagger board and next is to add 50lbs weight in the dagger board. We upgraded the bead mattress and added support for the storage panels under queen size berth under the cockpit. I will take photos.
My wife stripped her old daysailer and it gave us lots of great extra hardware, she worked at a sailboat yard rigging sailboats for a summer college job and collected lots of great gear on her 1955 20 ft wooden Highlander .
I am starting to see how much of a ( so called ) sail boat these changes will make on our cruising our Mac M

Re: Just a few of my mods
i like the idea with the spinnaker,i did not think of using cam cleats,it is one for the future to be able to launch and recover the spinny from the cockpit.

Re: Just a few of my mods
(bastonjock said : it is one for the future to be able to launch and recover the spinny from the cockpit.) I am afraid I didn't get it clear, my wife does the deploying of the a-spinnaker from standing inside the bow hatch ( better boat balance with the person's weight lower in the boat ) and controlling the Chute Scoop lines with our new cam cleats so that when we tack our boat she closes the spinnaker and reopens it on the other side when the boat is tacked, much easier and quicker for the 350 sq ft spinnaker sail. I work the tack line attached to the bow bottom corner of the spinnaker from the cockpit and also the spinnaker sheets. I will take photos today.

Duck tape will pull the fiberglass away from your skin if the tape doesn't pull all your hair out first.

Re: Just a few of my mods
I think someone also said to rub pantyhose over the skin to get rid of the surface fiberglass - I am not sure if I would give them back but that is for a different forum - and wash in cold water only. I found that a really cheap hand cream liberally applied until it disolves the surface layer of the skin and then roughly dried with a paper towel to remove that skin layer after which a cold water wash to get rid of the cream seems to help "just a little" for me. Next time I will try the duck tape first.
