Macgregor 26X weights
Reading my 1996 MAC 26X Owner´s Instructions Manual it says:
TOTAL WEIGHT:
.... The EMPTY boat weighs 2400 pounds. The trailer weighs 720 pounds...
¿Are the mast, boom, and riging included in the 2400 pounds mentioned or they should be added to the boat weight?
Thanks in advance

Re: Macgregor 26X weights
it gets tricky here...
prob includes helm, rails, mast and rigging. however, may not include weight of sails.
also prob does not include any foam pads, of course no battery or ice chest or porta-potti.
you should call their corp office and ask for Bill (in the sales dept). Bill is Roger's right-hand man.
or call Inmon Yachts at http://www.macgregorsailboats.com/. ask for Mike.

Re: Macgregor 26X weights
Thanks Bobby.
I will assume your estimation.
My guess is that all fixed parts (rails, helm, plates ...)or directly relatet (mast + boom+cables) are included.
Porta-potty, sails, anchor , chains, an battery need to be added to the 2400 pounds.
All of this is due to an inminent home moving from Canary Islands to Spain. I plan to put the boat+trailer+car on the regular cruise line (nested
boats) in a few days. The total lenght of "this thing", secured inside the big boat, need to be secured and tighted firmly for almost 1000 miles. I feel some scared.
I have no experience
in towing the boat and need to calculate and try to reduce every single pound in order to reduce possible overloads or unnecesary stuff.
Thanks again

Re: Macgregor 26X weights
I appreciate your options may be limited where you are, but have you checked if there are any vehicle scales within reasonable distance where you could simply weigh your actual boat+trailer and then know what you've got?

My 1998 26X with 50hp Merc, loaded for normal cruising including all rigging, sails, fuel, food, water, clothing, gear comes out to 3949 lbs on the trailer at a certified scale.

Re: Macgregor 26X weights
Thanks again for your comments:
In order to reach the minimum overload I think I´ll remove my Yamaha 50 HP. to the 4x4 towing vehicle. Also empty fuel cans, anchor, chains + miscellanea.
I will intend
to low down to 3250 pounds (+/- 1460 Kgrs)-trailer included-.
My serious concern is about transportation inside the ferry
You may see it (Fortuny) on this web (virtual tour included)

Re: Macgregor 26X weights
In all the home moving of Ariane the option was a 42" container with the boat and all the home furniture...All of this is due to an inminent home moving from Canary Islands to Spain
This way we could sleep much better.
