Where did the X/M come from?

Post by AKCoastie »

Just wondering where the X/M designator came from. Do they mean anything? Do they designate which prototype made it to production? I couldn't sleep last night and had too much time to think.

Your ruminating on the wrong question, you should be wondering why they painted the hull blue just to slow it down?

I heard that the blue hull is faster. Perhaps a challenge needs to be started. combine power and sailing legs oh what fun we could have, our own MacGregor regatta

You can check out the Macgregor Corp wiki at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacGregor_ ... orporation does not explain the "X" exactly but it does tell where the "D" Dagger board or "S" Swing Keel came from. I'm thinking the X meant it was a cross of the previous designs, but don't know for sure.

And BTW everyone knows the white hull is faster, just think of those world class swimmers - who is faster, someone who shaves his/her head bald or someone with a blue swimming cap on? :D

I know that I have read about the X and the M designation before. I have been searching for it on this board, the Macgregor26 website, google, yahoo, etc... but I haven't found it yet. But I know I have seen that data before.

Somebody will find it and point it out to all us eventually.

M is for millennium x was the cross of the different designs s, d has been talked about c I think was center board you get the idea. I think the m came out to soon after an issue with a death(not a design flaw or a mac problem, just drinking and boating bad combo, with stupid operators with 11 people on board) to be coincidence so they put in the 300 pound of ballast to cover there butts. I don’t remember the exact website I saw the m being millennium but not to hard to find when you have the 2 names.

:!: :!: HEY ... alright :!: :!:

Yeah, hey, I know that dogfood can taste great after awhile and ... all ... and it's cheap and you can save bucks and ... all ...but it should be a rule here on this board that you should all be eating human food for at least 48 hours and livid before begining a post :P :P

Can't resist this question. My 26 M came from Costa Mesa, California. I picked it up there at the factory. :D :D :D

Seriously, some of my early literature calls the 26X the 2600.

MacGregor 2600

Interestingly, Bottomsiders make cockpit cushions for the 2600 and the 26X and the Three Cushion Sets have different SKU #s
