Just out of curiosity. Will stern seats work if you have a bimini? Seems like it would get in the way of my bimini rails.

That's one fine looking enclosure you have there Q :!: Is it tan on the exterior also? And is that a padded grab handle :? for rough days on the water :?: Or just for when you have had a little too much Molson :?:

Tan on the inside and as you can see also on the outside.

The padded handle is for the guests who often need some thing to hang on to when manoevering in the cockpit besides the motor control handle which is for the captains hands only. :)

Jim,

The stern rail seats work very well with a bimini.

Came with the boat and was originally outfitted by Russell's Marine in Maine.

LOVE the stern seats from BWY. Always sit there and anyone who comes on board looks at them curious and wonders and I say go ahead and they love them.

In light winds when I solo I always sit up there, put a bungie around the wheel and make slight adjustments with my foot.

Hated the idea of the port-a-potty but got used to it - really extends the sailing/drinking you can do (if company is aboard)

From looking at everyone's great pics of the stern seat, I don't think I could install one on my boat with the way my bimini is set-up. That back vertical support rail is in the way I think.

Jim,

I see that you have straps to prevent the bimini from flipping in reverse. I do not see a lifeline stanchion. Is it possible to remove that supporting rod, and replacing it with the stern rail seats. That way a strap could be attached to the stern rail seats to prevent the bimini from going forward. The straps would counter each other. That's the way my set up is. See the photo five posts above, and magnify it.

Ray,

I do have the rear lifeline stanchions. Notice that my bimini is set up further aft than yours. But I guess it would be possible to do what you say. I could also attach straps to the arch. However, I think for now I have enough projects on my "to do" list and I will live without the stern seats for now.

I will wait until I can actually climb on somebodys :macm: that has them so that I can truly judge for myself if they would be worth the changes I would have to make.

Thanks,
Jim
