We have a small hole in the sole of the companionway for this purpose as well.

The factory started drilling one for all boats at the base of the companionway step, beginning, I believe, with the early 1997 models.

our '98 26X has nicely installed electric powered
Whale faucets in the head and the galley. Never
use the one in the head. Completely agree sink
and water supply in head are a total waste of space.

Hi Scott,
I am pretty sure that the serial number tells the year and month the boat was made.
The last 2 digits is the year, and the third from last digit(s) is the month.

Well, mine was made 8/98, and it had one, so somewhere in between Scott's an mine then?
