would like crew member for a day. I will be traveling to LA for a Bar Mitzvah on June 28 and will have Sunday the 29th free for the day before I return home. I was wondering if anybody was planning to sail that day and would be willing to take me along for the ride. I've owned three sailboats over the past 23 years, two of them Macgregors. I'm experienced but willing to take orders and would be glad to share ideas and knowledge. You bring the boat and I'll buy dinner. 8)

If nobody responds, my second option is to go see the Queen Mary. :(

QM 2nd choice

Post by Morimaro »

The QM is a great 2nd choice, loads to see and a good tour from bridge, through accomodation, to engine room and especially the underwater gallery out around the propellers.

I'm hesitant to agree due to an ever changing schedule.
We may or may not (most likely) be on the boat that weekend.
Sunday is our short day, sailing from 10-11 to 1-2.
We pack up early for the 150 mile trip home.
If/when we firm up plans, you are welcome to come along.

Rick,

Thanks for the reply, I've been following your dream trip, sounds like something I'd try in maybe ten years or so. Actually I'd like to try the inside passage from Seattle to Alaska, only during the summer.

Hard Crab.

I understand about about the difficulties of planning a sailing trip for a certain date. Weather and personal restrictions always dictate when you can go. We have relatives visiting this week end but I'm trying to get out the week end after. Always like to plan trips around full moons. Next week Bubba is having having his Lewis and Clark Bluegrass Festival at Sacajawea Park and taking his 26 M I'm not sure I'll be able to attend. Thanks for the invite, I'd be happy to help pack up your boat.

Stevo,

I am figuratively in Harcrab's boat. I would love to take my Mac out with another experienced Macer but also have a psychotic schedule. I will not know if I am free on June 29 until the week before. I am quite close to the water here in Huntington Beach though and am capable of a quick turnaround if things work out. Let me know where in the LA area you will be. Metro LA and OC is really BIG!

Theo,

Thanks for the reply, and potential sailing. I will be staying at the Hilton in Woodland Hills. I understand that every thing in LA seems close but takes at least an hour or two to get anywhere, depending on traffic. Last time I was in LA was to pick up my boat at the factory(near Huntington Beach) and it seemed like it took all day to drive from my cousin's house to the factory, get a tour and return making only one stop at West Marine for short 8) shopping trip picking up new anchor and other esentials. I'm also aware that our scheduals are un-predictable as I am planning to take my boat out tomorrow and still have not decided exactly where I'm going to launch. All depends on which way the wind is blowing.

I could probably take you.

I wouldn't mind taking my Mac X version on sunday to get it ready for my next trip. If you don't mind pitching in for gas and launch ramp. We would launch from Huntington Beach and we could motor or sail over to the queen mary, or launch at newport and sail over to laguna beach. check out my website at www.welchland.com and you can see pictures of my boat under the sailing link. email me at ben@welchland.com with your cell phone number and I can call you Friday or saturday to confirm.

I'm a teacher on summer break, so I would like to get plenty of sailing done this summer and I could use another deckhand. My wife hates to see me do all the work myself.

Ben.
