Here's a picture of the pulley set-up on my :macm:. Not sure if this would work the same on an :macx: as the transom is different. And I am sure that this could be improved some.

Use the "Search" function near the top of this page. Type in your key words such as "rudder AND pulley" or the words "rudder" and "pulley" and click the box for "search all terms" (or something like that).

Good luck,

On my :macm: you can see the line (or a loop of it) at the lowest spot in the picture. The line runs inside the transom and out of a hole at the top of my transom...right next to a cleat (one on each side) that I use to "tie" the rudders down. This is a completely seperate line from the "pull up" line.

I believe the "tie down" line on an :macx: is rigged differently and is outside of the transom.

I believe you could seperate the lines and use 2 different lines on each rudder. Then you could rig a 2:1 pulley system on the line used to raise the rudders.

Very nice. How secure are those bolts? Do they get in the way (or rub the transom) when the rudders are up?

Thanks, the eye-bolts work really well. They extend 1-1/2" into the trailing edge, and so far so good, there is no evidence of them pulling out.

Pulled into the up position there is lotsa' room with no interference(on my X that is).

One additional mod. for this season will be to drill a 1/2" hole in the bottom T/Edge corner to allow the use of a bungee, giving a little more insurance the rudders stay up in place when travelling.

Cheers..........R
