In my world things change rather quickly, thus the name of my boat 'Zeno's Arrow' (as the intention is to eventually get to Asia, one can regard Hawaii as a 1/2 way point, thus the Zeno's Arrow philosophy of my traveling goals should not enter into the equation, besides it's the first piece of land after the west coast!).

I think I'm going to use the new Spot Satellite Messenger system so folks can track the boat on this site and Google Maps (Iridium back-up). I'll get myself organized to start posting some new pix, with comments on 'why' as soon as I get back from the Mekong. I have now changed a number of my modifications to be more 'open ocean friendly, speed is nice'systems, rather than 'live-aboard' and 'Amazon River type mods. For example, I'll be using a single 6 hp engine as there is little reason to over power for a 2200 mile crossing (an identical 6 hp. will be secured inside), a hand operated water-maker, etc. I suspect I'll take my time and travel a bit off the Mexican coast checking things out before making my right hand turn.

FYI, the Hawaii run will double Zeno's Arrow's current transit record from Trinidad to Panama. More later---

Without question...this event will be a Pub Board highlight event. With only 3 months, will that be enough time for the trip, return, and some time on the islands ?

Fair winds to you MM.

20+ years after Shane St. Clair single-handed his stock Catalina Capri 18 from Oxnard CA to Hawaii in 28 days, the trip will finally be made in a MacGregor powersailor, albeit an extremely modified one.

Mast upgrade

Dont forget to replace your mast with a 30' glue-lam beam for durability.

I wonder how many pages this thread will have. I predict that Heath will have to add a whole separate link for this. Might be a good time for it while he is updating the site.

Zeno's Arrow already has a 32' Carbon Fiber Spar (and 12' boom) made by Southern Spars for a client who didn't want the thing after it was made, so I got it. :)

Good thing you got that spar before Boeing ran the world out of Carbon fiber for making planes

Not only that, but we (North) sold them the Rm Machine Technology they are now using to make CF aircraft. How's that for pulling the rug out from under yourself!
