Venture 24 Restoration

Post by teamatron »

I recently aquired an old Venture 24 Sailboat. It is basically a shell, but in good solid condition. I want to restore it and get it out on the water, but I need some help.
I would love to get my hands on any Venture manuals or diagrams. I need to rebuild the interior, and would like to see what was there originally.
I have a trailer, mast, boom, rigging, main & jib sail, rudder and tiller, but that is about it!
I would also like to know how the swing keel works. It is currently retracted and sitting on the trailer. Inside the boat, there are through-bolts at both ends of the keel. I am not sure which ones to remove when dropping the keel.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
A hopeful Venture Sailor,
Bob M.

Only the lower bolt needs to be removed . That is the pivot bolt . The other bolt holds a bumper for the keel to stop against when down. The cable is attached by a bail on the rear of the keel

I think there is a site by a Mr Walden or something like that with lots of pics . Also look up the project called overkeel .

I have two of these and love them
