Be sure to whip your lines where noone will see the welts. Some people think poorly of the practice.

Actually, I used to melt the ends, at the beginning of this season I used whip it on all of my lines. Verdicts not in yet.

I wrap tightly with electrical tape, cut the tape, melt the ends with a small butane torch. Looks great and lasts as long as the line. The tape keeps the end from deforming into a glob from the heat. The heat sort of welds the tape together.
