New Towing Company in Town

Hey All,
My Dad and I were out on the boat today sailing down the Deleware. I was listening to a conversation about a boat that was stuck. I hailed them to find out how far they were from us. I came to find out that they were about three miles from us. We dropped the sails and headed their way. We came into the cove where they had run aground. I found out minutes before that they were on a twenty seven feet Searay. I was thinking it was a sailboat. Well off we went into the cove a little faster then I should have. Especially after listening to someone yelling about my wake. So I slowed down and pointed "Finally" at them. My Dad and I looked around to see about thirty boats anchored around them. I had my father up on the foredeck to assist in retrieving their bow line. Well guess what? My boat was acting up and I ended up having their bowline tossed to me at the helm. I manuevered around their boat and started to tow. I could not believe it when their boat just swung around and scooted out into the middle of the cove with a sailboat towing it. After they decided they were deep enough we dropped their line and took off. Out of the cove and high five came up between my Dad and I. Time to head home we went. About three minutes later they came by us and waved thankfully. I am sure that we were a spectical to all the other boaters when my Mac came in and pulled them out. So their was a happy ending to the day. On the way home, my Dad and I talked about why such a big boat did not have a gps with mapping software to tell them sounding besides their depthsounder. I am glad that we were able to raise my motor and just scoot over the shallow ground. So the new tow company is Towboat Macgregor. Happy sails, Tony

I use to tow boats occasionally with my Starcraft I/O 16 foot bow rider but have not yet done any with the Mac. I was not sure did you tow from your bow or the aft of your boat ?

About three minutes later they came by us and waved thankfully. I am sure that we were a spectical to all the other boaters when my Mac came in and pulled them out.

Originally I was going to tow from the bow keeping the stern in deep water. the wind did not cooperate on this and I had to go around their boat. I picked up the line and tied it to the stern cleat. I had the engine slightly up. I motored around slowly rotating them and pulled them into deeper water. After they decided they were in deep enough water, we dropped their bow line and left. I made sure not to leave them time to say thanks. I was nice to help someone in need. Happy sails, Tony

Thanks !! The stern it is. I was just curious, as I used to use the waterski eye on my Starcraft to connect to which of course the Mac does not come from the factory with.
