this was the conversation...

lady Astor : If you were my husband sir, I would poison your drink.
Winston Churchill: No offence my dear but if you were my wife, I would drink it!

A lot of wisdom from an old drunk.

Churchill was speeding across the country highway. crossing a police speed trap. Churhill decided he would outrun the police and floored it. A few miles down the highway the police finally were able to run him off the road. The police officer approached churchill and said; You better have a damm good reason why you tried to outrun us. Churchill replied, Last week my wife ran away with a State Policeman. I thought you were trying to return her....

Yacht club resistance for one of the two most popular crusing boats ever made? harummph to them!!
Proof: My Mar 2008 edition of SAIL magazine just arrived in the mail in a plastic wrap. Also inside was a 44 page sales insert from The Sail Warehouse. Every category of sail had the Mac 25/26/26X and 26M covered along with 100's of other makes of sailboats. Under the heading: "Cruising Spinaker Packages for Popular Boats" there were only two types of boats listed, the Catalina 22 thru 36 and the Macgregor 25/26/26X and 26M.

All of these postings about a stuffy group of sailors falls under the Three S W Rule.

Some Will!

Some Won't!

So What :!:

A few years ago, the admiral and I had just docked at a restaurant in Bolton Landing, NY. As we were walking down the dock a fellow rather dapperly attired came over to me. He was a member of a local boat club, and he wanted to come over and say hello. He asked if I was the CAPTAIN of that sailboat which just tied up? I said "yes I am". He then shook my hand and said, "Nice boat captain". :) You can imagine how my chest swelled 8)

We don't need those who do not wish to either acknowledge us as sailors, or acknowledge our boats as a genre of sailboat.

P.S. Another time at that same restaurant, a small boy ran past me as I was again walking down the dock after having just tied up. He stopped at my boat. He stared at its hull, and then yelled back to someone a distance away "IT SAYS NICE AFT!" Heads started to turn, and I just smiled :D

The above paragraph has nothing to do with the original posting. I just like telling the story :)
