I am scheduled to go to S.S. Chicago , Friday with my wife. Our purpose is to attend several seminars but if we have the time and if I can find the Hunter trailer sailor I will pop a few shots and then have to e-mail them to someone to post.

thats great, if you do you can mess. me here & I'll mess. you with my p/m yahoo add. Ok. Hunter had a 25-26ft trl sail boat at the T.O. boat show but it was not a powersailor and at around $36,000 it did not even come close to matching a 26M for space or looks or design very dismal inside . the new Hunter powersailor is suppose to be water ballast & have a 50hp on it , I was told by a hunter rep that it would be ready for its first exhibit at the chicago show so it would be very interesting to se what they came out with have been checking their web site and as of yet nothing their about it seems they are keeping it top secret !! until its first showing ! The Hunter rep told me when he was at the factory no one was aloud to take any pic's of it !. would like to know more about its dia.

thx John

I guess I am confused as to why Hunter discontinued the trailerable, water ballast 260 several years ago.

I looked at them before I purchased the Mac and I've been in a couple that were purchased by former Mac owners as movin' up boats. It seems to be a fairly decent boat as conventional sailboats go. With the wider beam, way roomier than the Mac so nicer accomodations and room for more people and/or stuff. Of course priced considerably higher, not a powersailor and considerably more difficult to trailer and rig than the Mac, so there are the basic tradeoffs.

Still, it seems they must not have found their market or they wouldn't have discontinued it in favor of the 27. Maybe couldn't compete favorably with the Mac even though they're very different boats? The In any case, now it appears they're bringing it back, so what's changed between then and now? The current 27 is different than the 260 as well and maybe they found it wasn't enough more boat for buyers to consider buying it given the still higher price tag.

If they couldn't compete with the Mac with their conventional sailboat, what in the world makes them think they can attack Roger right were he lives?

Guess we'll see when we see. BTW, who else, other than the Polish Mac clone which name escapes me right now, makes a 26' tailerable?

Have you seen the price on those Polish clones??? Twice what you'd pay for a MAC. Now a nice interior, wood inlay and all, but not the space nor attractiveness of the MAC interior in my opinion. And Polish made???...Sorry I won't even go there. :|

Freedom makes some really nice boats. Maybe if I had more money I would own a Freedom instead of the Mac.. . . its all relative $$$
A Chevy and a Caddy in the end both get you there, its what you can rationalize for cost.

My reasoning likewise. Anyway, Im not planning to circumnavigate or loose sight of land when on the water--the Mac does just fine, even on the ICW routes locally.

Managing expectations is probably the biggest failure of many Mac sellers and buyers. Fortunately for me Bill did not let me go to the blue sky so I knew what I decided to buy and have been happy with it since. Our 28 foot Morgan is more warm and roomy with is 12 foot beam and sails closer the wind but I have no hope that it will ever take me to the apostles in Superior, keys in Florida or Coeur d'Alene.

I was at the Chicago boat show yesterday. There was no Hunter 26 Power Sailor, only the Hunter 25.

No Mac representation this year either.
