JustSail wrote:When I bought my M the dealer suggested taking the rudders off if you're going a long distance. I was surprised just how easy they were to remove and put back on. Takes all of 5 minutes. Just 2 knots and a bolt each.

That worked really well going to Key West and back.
Never gave that a thought! Good Idea! Thanks!

Sorry to see the mess you ended up with.

I've mentioned this before, but without any takers:

For the effort it takes to remove one bolt and one knot then stow the rudders below, it might not be worth the worry of ""what's happening back there"" ?? :o :o

Good luck with the repair.

All better now. Kudos to Joel for doing a fantastic job on the repair. The new foil shape actuall looks like it would be an improvement, and no loss in blade length. (Yes, size matters) :D

For anyone interested, here is the IDA (big blade) with a stock :macm: rudder in front of it... for sailor looking for a bit of extra rudder bite.

Just for fun. Sorry. I couldn't resist.

I am compelled to give Joel a big endorsement. An excellent product, a class-act-guy who stands behind his work. A good-as-new repair for a reasonable cost and quick turnaround. Thanks Joel.

We did a major cleaning on the Polliwog this weekend and were reminded of this handsome critter. We ( and the kids) enjoyed having him on board!

I would still love a dimension drawing of those things so that I could get some made.

Shipping from the US makes them a very uneconomical proposition.

Nice pics Leon and I am very glad to see it all worked out for you.

Those rudders sure look a lot bigger than the stock version.

I think they just made the short list

Lease,

I can tell you that the blade length from the tip of the rudder head to the bottom edge is 51" width is 12" I don't know the first thing about a dimension drawing. Sorry. If there are some specific measurements you want, I would be happy to do so.

Cheers,
L.

Lease, did you check cost of shipping by "by see " ?I know it takes time, may be 4-6 weeks, but many times cheaper :)
