Bedding
Okay, I've yet to step onto my future M. But I'm wondering what the bedding is like. Is it comfortable or will some additional padding like mattress egg crate be required. The admiral is a light sleeper and I'm concerned that she will have trouble with a bad "mattress".
I've always slept like a baby on the water. The admiral, not so much.
Any comments on the Mac's bedding materials?

We all slept great on our 03 Mac Bunks. They were actually more comfortable than our current boat! Although, my "bug but" did break the plastic support over the aft bunk bilge area! But that could have been a sign that I needed to Diet.....
I would try it out first before adding more stuff and hassle to go from sleeping to underway configuration.

Rich

Try it
Rich is right (God I hate to say that - - and I would never say it in the Pub), I have a 2006 M and the aft berth was not firm enough for me, but it is for other people - - - you just have to try it and see. It you do a search on"matresses - cushions" I'm sure you will come up with much research material to peruse.
What I did was order a second set of just aft foam from the factory (much cheaper than going outside to cushion makers) and I put them underneath the aft cushions and now I'm fine sleeping there.
Some people have used air mattresses - - - you'll see a myriad of ideas with a search. Good luck.

ok
The only complaint I had in my 07 Mac was when I slept over the cooler space in the aft area. Everytime I moved it made the cover over the bilge squeak all the time. After I changed positions no more squeaks. The cushions on the sofa are comfortable but I recommend putting something over them as the plastic can make you sweat.

As you can see, you are going to have to find out for yourself
Different strokes for different folks
As for the Admiral and myself, neither of us has ever needed anything other than sheets to cover any sleeping area in our 05M. I've always thought of sleeping in the aft bunk as the ultimate water bed
with plenty of room for all activities

Don"t know about the M, but the X v-berth mattresses are 2" soft foam and bottom out readily.
We first underlaid them with cheap Coleman camping mats....Firm elastomer, thin, flat on upper side, bumps on bottom side (which provide ventilation paths between the mats and the fiberglass bunk flat). This gave better support.
2 years ago we inserted 2" medium firmness, foam slabs between the stock mattresses and the Coleman pads. No bottoming out. Sheets cover the stack so raw foam not visible. Quite comfortable. Total investment maybe $100-150. Well worth it.

Our Rear Berth is always in the ready. . .We too added a mattress pad of sorts and all is good with the world.
Grand kids seem to sleep where they fall and have never heard any complaints from any of them.
Well that's not true as they want to sleep on deck and I need to get those nets before I feel comfortable with that idea.
One slept in the cockpit one night but he did said it was kinda short and narrow. My 6- y.o. grand daughter reminded me REAL SAILORS!!!! Sleep in Hammocks Papa....

V Berh
For that reason my V berth is used for storage only. When I take naps I take them on the couch between the galley and the V berth - - - - I put the long back cushion in the hallway and use the small one for a pillow against the V berth. That's also a good spot for extracirricular activitiesNiceAft wrote:The only problem I have with the V berth is that if you are over 5'2", YOU WON'T FIT![]()
