26M listing on eBay

Post by parrothead »

If this is legitimate, it would seem to be a great opportunity for someone in or near San Diego. http://tiny.cc/gLqmr

Depending on the 'extras', if it is a pretty short list, then that is about right, but you would have to check the HIN tho.

Included in the description of the boat is the following statement, right at the beginning: "Great sailing performance...." :D :D :D

Would this fit the definition of puffery?

Whew. From the title of this thread I thought it was about to sink.

Kevin took the words right out of my mouth :) Doesn't look like it's listing too badly on the trailer :P

Great observations regarding my use of the word "listing" :D

Since there have been zero bids so far, I guess it would be more accurate to say that it is "languishing" on eBay

:D that reminds me of the time drove down to a local area lake to check out the ramp there. Struck up a conversation with a fellah standing nearby. The conversation went something like this;

ME ... "Yeah this ramp has good depth."

STRANGER ... "Yeah so it does. And it doesn't look like it crowed here either!"

ME ... (thinking to myself). Well duh, it's a weekday today, everyones probably working. But I didn't want him to feel stupid by saying that so I said this (One of my concocted stories).

"Well it's probably because no one wants to sail on a lake that isn't level. You know that's been a big problem for this lake since Charley blew threw!"

STRANGER (staring out over the lake says), "You don't SAY?"

ME ... "Yeah, really makes it tough to stay in one spot. Have to anchor all the time, just to fish a favorite spot. Plus if you don't run your motor just to stay put, you will slide all the way down to the west shoreline."

STRANGER ...(frowning). "Oh yeah, I knew about that. And those folks way down there, (refering to the west bank) are pretty snobby about you getting too close to thier docks! For sure, I wouldn't boat here either!"

end of story

I thought this guy was the exception to the rule (PT Barnum's Rule), but I have tested this story on other people just to get a laugh. Hate to say it, I never have been able to get a laugh out of anyone yet. Is the general public that gullible? :?

Maybe I should go find a church and go to Confession
