Francis,
I believe you are supposed to apply the Slimy Grimy as soon as the boat is out of the water, and on the trailer. If you do any application after the green mess has dried, you will not get optimum effectiveness. Even if you do re-wet it. I will be carrying a one gallon sprayer with me when I take Nice Aft out of the water next week.

Pulled WW&S out of Lake Michigan after 6 + Months and had used Aurora Anti Fouling Wax on her.( Btw not sure it was worth the effort and I put on 2 good coats of that stuff.) She differently had a slim coat though. I used MaryKate On and Off I wasted much of it as later I found it works Just As Good diluted 1 qt to about 4 gal. I used a Hudson sprayer /plastic tank to wet her down with and a soft deck hull brush to scrub her down with. She is clean as a whistle so to speak. I was on asphalt so no problems . But cement is etched and soon destroyed by high caustic products. $32 a gallon and again I wasted over half of it. You do not need to use it full strength. In fact two days later with some diluted in a bucket I still cleaned my fenders as easy as 1 2 3 .
Boaters World carries it and I imagine many others as well.

MaryKate On and Off
I had a good experience with this too. The boat was in a slip in Waukegan, Illinois, with no bottom paint for 3 months. I brought it home and the stuff dried out. When it was wet there was about a 1/2 inch of green fuzz coating the hull with a couple strands of algae as long as 8 inches.
After blowing off the bulk of the dried algae with a 2500 psi pressure washer, there were millions of green spots where the algae plants attached themselves to the boat. These are very tough. I painted on the On and Off hull cleaner with a 2" paint brush, and scrubbed with a stiff plastic bristle brush. It worked great, probably took about two hours total to clean the bottom of the boat. I did not do under the bunks which I'll clean in the spring when I bottom paint. I bought a gallon of On and Off and used about a quart on a Mac 25. It drips a little, but I was impressed that it clings to the hull pretty well.
It is nasty stuff, I continually hosed the trailer (painted) and driveway (asphalt) where I was working with fresh water. The trailer, driveway and plants seem to be fine two weeks later.

Slimy Grimy application
OK, here are the results I said I would post.
First. This is what Nice Aft's bottom looked like when I pulled her out of the Delaware River. Yuk
I applied Slimy Grimy to Nice Aft as soon as I pulled her out of the water. The results were very fast. For some strange reason, one side worked quicker than the other. The next day, both sides looked good.

This is what the boat looked like the next day after applying Slimy Grimy.

This is a close up.

I did not get results as good as these on the rudders. I don't know why. They do look much better than they did before the application, but last year they looked better after the Slimy Grimy than this year. Last year I did use hot water. This year I was not able to.
I am very much sold on this stuff. Right now Nice Aft is sitting in my driveway for the winter. In the Spring, I will clean whatever residue that is on her with a rotary buffer.

I agree what the heck is with that? Again I had much better success with MaryKate on and off and I no longer have the brown tea stain and my hull looks like new! I surely hope that's some kind of white antifouling or You have Major Problemo's!!!beene wrote:Hi Ray
Is it just me, or does your hull look a bit like elephant skin below the black stripe as compared to your hull above the stripe?![]()

G & Dive,
What you are seeing is Interlux barrier coat. Since I was concerned about blistering, not anti-fouling, I decided to not paint over it . If I had painted, there would have been a much smoother appearance. Not one of "elephant skin"
Dive, as to the Mary Kate on and off being better; I don't know what your, bottom problem was? It may not be at all comparable to the very dark, black/brown stain on the bottom of Nice Aft. I did not attempt to rub or wipe the mess away. I only sprayed, and went on my way. Next season, when I clean up the boat, I'll do a compounding and waxing that will get rid of the minor residue left over from this year.
All and all, I am pleased with the results. That black/brown stain was ugly. By the way, I did not sail/motor through any oil slick, or any other chemical mess that I can think of. The Delaware did this to my boat on its own
As far as I'm concerned, if this is the worst thing that ever happens to me, I'll have lived a charmed life
As it is, I'm a Mac owner. Life is good

P.S. While trailering Nice Aft home, a pretty lady pulled up next to me at a traffic light, pointed back towards either the boat or it's name, and then flashed a big smile while giving a big thumbs up sign. When I got home, I told the Admiral that if I wasn't a happily married, in love old man, I could use that boat as a huge chick magnet
