You mention a sunroof, something I don't have. Is this a clear panel in the connector? Perhaps the square of fabric is a cover for this.

I actually want to put a square window in the connector so I can see forward better when standing. It would make sense to have a cover for it that velcro'd to the connector as well for whe you want shade and to make it more waterproof.

I got a call from BWY today. They explained the following on their product:
The full enclosure consists out of 10 pieces:
1. Dodger (narrow, covers only the companion way)
2. connector piece to Bimini
3. Bimini (add. $35 to build the frame so it can be de-assembled for shipping, still about add. $100 for oversize shipping)
4. window connector piece from dodger to side panel (2X)
5. side panel window (2X)
6. rear corner panel (2X)
7. rear panel
You can buy additional panels with mosquito netting and assemble one or the other.
The BWY stern rail seats are needed ($500) very nice to have!!!
Delivery time will be about 3 – 4 weeks.

Duane - Our sunroof is a clear panel in the connector with a flap that velcros closed or rolls up with straps to keep it open. It's placed a little too far aft to help with vision forward, it's really just for light and we rarely ever close it.

At least BWY returned your call. I've sent a couple of emails regarding parts and I've gotten nothing in return. A little disappointed to say the least.

I have the BWY Enclosure

Post by Erik Hardtle »

I purchased the BWY enclosure for my X

Click on the web link below and then go to modifications to see the enclosure. The pictures are from my installation of it... so the windows still have the tape and protective covers from shipping.

I am happy with it.

Dowsar Enclosure

Post by Jedaro »

I agree with Duane about the enclosure. As well my wife swears by the full enclosure for many of the same reasons that Duane gives.
We have used the bimimi frame to hold the 2 black portable showers and then it's off the end for a rinse.
We have also made a zipper modification to the connector and had an extended crutch constucted so that the mast can be stepped without interfering with the dodger. (see my modification).

We swear by having the enclosure or the 'living room' for Jedaro.

PS Our son has dual citizenship and lives near Philadelphia. When we send gifts etc we can expect delays of up to 45 days due to customs. :macx:

Duane - I took another look at our enclosure and the sunroof panel really does help with forward vision...I guess I've just so rarely left it up while underway that I've never noticed.

And I did figure out what the snaps on the rear panel are for...they are for holding the panel in place when it is rolled up. We've always either flipped it up over the top or just removed it.

Still haven't figured our where the other piece goes though.

Could it be to close the transom, the opening below the helm seat. ?

We found a local supplier who is doing custom canvas work. He was working for about 2 weeks and provided us a very nice full enclosure custom made for about $3750. We where out this weekend and tried the new addition to the boat. It is amazing how much space you gain with the full enclosure we bought. It really will extend our sailing season quit a bit. We where in very foggy weather and had the enclosure up when we where not sailing. It was just great. I will post pictures as soon as I get some (the camera battery died). The enclosure was made according to some photographs I found here on a posting and a whish list with things we want and don’t want.

Full Enclosure

Post by GeoffR »

We also bought our Mac26X full enclosure from BWY. Specified the wide dodger, which cuts down the footspace to get to the mast or bow but the front hatch is also useful for this in calm weather. Gives good wind and spray protection when the side panels are not in place.

Phone responses and personal service were great. Email was spotty and I think they might have anti-virus settings that stop some mail getting through.

I had a couple of extra pieces but they turned out to be the bits that were cut out to create the windows !!!
