Re: 26c keel cable
I bought a 4' piece of 3/16" SS when I was working on my centerboard right after I bought the boat. When I bought the boat, the cable (1/8" galvanized!) was rusted and broken. When I replaced it, I also put in an extra block to give a 2 to 1 purchase and make it easier to raise the board. ...

Done the research, done the mod...
I mounted an 18 gallon tank on a small level deck on the lazarette in my 26S. I put a Perko deck fill with built-in vent in the side of the motor well. To meet USCG requirements, I put in two vents to the laz. The front one is in the center of the bulkhead under the tiller, just above the level of t...

Lightweight!
Looks like mostly X's and M's replied here, with heavy-duty beasts :o 8) . I have a lightweight to pull my 26S: a 2003 Ford Ranger, 3L v-6 with 5-sp manual trans. Does fine for me, but would not recommend it for a heavier boat or crossing the mountains! :D Only problem is, I end up driving 2 vehicle...

You might also try macgregorowners website- they often come up with specs and/or drawings, particularly for the older boats.

Sure am glad I've got a 26S so I don't have to figure out how to vote here.

You guys going to have the votes counted in Florida?

excess line...
Thanks, Delevi. I'm going to try a couple of bags as Terry uses, but I've got a big fat compass on one side, so I may have to try some kind of hanger for one line on that side. Look for Spring!

Sticky Bags
Thanks, Terry. I was thinking about some kind of container, but the bags are probably less intrusive than any rigid container. Fair winds!

lines in the cockpit
Delevi, once you get all of those lines in the cockpit, what do you do with them to avoid tangles? None of the pictures showed this, and I'm very curious. My lines are each coiled near where they are made fast, so I don't have a problem getting them mixed up or tangled. Using your pictures and those...

Thanks again for your efforts, particularly to kmclemore. List of dealers did not include any currently valid email addresses. Have emailed the former webmaster, hope to hear from him. If not, I'll just play with the thing and see if I can make it work. I do appreciate the efforts you guys went to t...

Thanks for trying...
got a web address on Coastal Navigator Corp...and the site came up in Japanese! I'll just have to try some trial and error in operating this apparently outdated set.

I bought a used boat and it contained the depth sounder noted above. Does anyone know who made this, or where I might look to find a manual? There was no paperwork with it, and all of the Google searches only locate one for sale on Ebay. Any info would be appreciated.

1/4" plywood
If Lowes serves your area, they carry a hardwood plywood that is just under 1/4" and has exterior glue. I have used it for a lot of drawer bottoms and some other uses. A couple of years ago, I put some scraps in a jar of water and sat it in the sun for a few days, then tried to bend it to see i...

boat height
I measured my 26S and it is 96 inches ground to stanchion top. My trailer is not a Macgregor, but is similar in design and I would expect the height to be nearly the same. Hope this helps.
