we're looking hard at a new tohatsu 6hp for the 18 that has the alternator and reverse gears, weighs in at 56lbs, and costs 1710.00 but i like the idea of being able to run up the battery when i want to, and not rely on shore power. not completely sold on it yet, but getting close

moe; your 18 looks great, what year is it? we can't find any used ones here, i spoke to a couple of brokers who tell me they get bought up instantly, and never get to the brokers. we are also considering increasing the $$ and going new. a new 18 costs about 16k here, and its funny, i saw a 22ft cata...

ive been TOLD to buy a sailboat!

ok, the time has finally come, after a couple of seasons of chartering on the west coast, we are going to buy a boat to use in the area lakes, and maybe tow as far west as lake okanogan in b.c. my budget is 10K and i've been looking at things like: catalina 18 / 22 i've also come across a 22ft mac a...

during our CYA course, a huge amount of time was spent on MOB drills, using a floating flag, we did them in all conditions, and never knew when the instructor was going to toss it over and call MOB. it was worth every dime for that course. Both my wife and i are certified, so when we took another co...

frank, i couldnt agree more. investors scream for higher returns, so companies source the most cost effective products they can, otherwise the investment community destroys them. like i said, we cannot have it both ways, and last time i checked, very few are prepared to pay 49 bucks for a 3 dollar c...

in canada, a mast light is only required at anchor if you are outside a designated anchorage. otherwise, no need. it is a big world, and the economy is really worldwide now, if all the companies in north america that are racing to sell thier products in the east had to stop, the north american econo...

moe;

the one we looked at had inserts for between the two benches down below. it turned the area into a bed almost queen sized. it was fantastic, does yours have this set up? there were 1x2"'s run along each side for support, simple system, but an amazing set up for a good nights sleep.

without laying ANY blame, this seems like an example of how important it really is to treat every launch of your boat like a plane flight, using a mental or written checklist. you can never assume "that tank is full because its always full" i assume everything is wrong until i confirm its ...

moe;

great boat, we've looked at them at shows, actually amazed how much room there is in the cockpit. the cabin is fine for 2 overnight, and my wife and i actually prefer it to the 22ft version. its alot of boat for the $$, i think you'll enjoy!
