I like the idea of keeping things simple. I had thought about putting the shower in the head but the older I get the less things want to bend. :| The Zodi in the cockpit works for us. The added luxury of having the full cockpit enclosure and taking a shower in the cockpit with it up with some kind o...

5 pieces of equipment/systems for the Mac to Loop

What 5 pieces of equipment (radar, chartplotter) or systems (AC, water storage or holding tank) would you add if you were to take your Mac (M's can go too :) ) on the "Loop". Assume Mac is already has compass, and depth finder and roller furler.

Hey Slamjammer I'm not laughing. Completing the loop has been a dream of mine for several years. My wife and I intend on starting when I retire in 4ys, 7 months and 23 days - but whose counting! :? I've read a lot of cruising books including "Honey Let's Buy A Boat" by Ron Staub. He founde...

It's my pleasure anytime I get to lend a hand. Newell, I remember very well the night you launched . The wind was howling! You really didn't need my help. You did make a believer out of me about boat handling in reverse. I had recently read an article on doing exactly what you did. You brought that ...

Did the Mead Maddness Men Makeit ?

I saw the start of the gathering for the cruise that was to occur. Eight trailer sailors and most of them were :macx: It was impressive looking down the line of them all beached. How did it go Tropico? Capt Kimo are you still with us? Enjoyed meeting you all. What a collection - SoCA; NV;AZ ID;WY :?...

Sailfish, Best of luck with your boat. I bought mine from Mike in Dec of 99. He has always helped me out with info and discounted purchases when he could. The guys at the factory helped with a couple of times also. I suggest to go with the 60hp or 70hp too. Mike doesn't agree with this. He is much m...

I tend to err on the side of caution. I understand that is no guarantee but it has kept our :macx: from going over more than 45 degrees. We have had the rail close to the water in a race in Long Beach. I'm not sure whether we were going faster forward or sideways at that time. :|

Thanks for the info Tom. Sounds like another pro for the M in the continuing :macx: vs :macm: debate :D . Sometimes the debate is informative, sometimes amusing. A lot of good comments on pros & cons over going over the 50 hp. One response said "That increased engine weight will marginally decrease your sailboat side of the power sailor." My understanding of that comment came from one of the engineers that worked with Roger on the design of the...

thank you for the reply Aya16. The chain plates I was referring to are the metal plates that hold the turnbuckels that lead to the stays that support the mast. I am getting leaking around those areas that go through the hull. I wonder if the miracle white stuff (5200) would work there?

Chain plate leaks

What do you use to stop leaks around chain plates. I understand that common silicone caulking has acid in it that can weaken metals. Looking for suggestions on what to apply after I get the silicone off :? . Skip PS; I guess I don't quite understand how to use the "search" on this si...
