No Longer a Mac Owner

We have sold our Mac after five delightful years. We bought a Nimble Nomad pocket trawler, and considered keeping Lucy E. for a few more years, but felt that she wouldn't get the attention and use she deserves. And, while we are reasonably fit for our years, we also wanted the additional space and c...

Re: Roll Call!

Lucy E. , a 2005 26M, sails the middle and lower Potomac and Chesapeake Bay. She is now winterized on the hard at the marina at Colonial Beach, VA where she has a slip.
Happy New Year, all.

Lucy E. Remasted

As a followup, we finally have our mast in, and Lucy E. once again is whole and floating proud in her slip. In the interim, we had to make do with a short stub of a mast. Aside from providing for requisite navigation lights, it also was a quick handhold when going forward on deck, and a reminder of ...

Just got back from the marina. Very thorough inspection by Boat U.S contracted surveyor, checked every fitting, stanchion. connection etc... inside and out. Spent quite a bit of time, seemed very thorough, took numerous photos inside and out. He will report to Boat US the beginning of the week, but ...

Thanks all for the commiseration and good advice. Have an appointment with the Boat U.S. adjuster at the marina this afternoon to go over the damage, both Boat US and Otho have been exceptional to date. May have to borrow our daughter's West Wight Potter for the occasional sailing fix until we're ba...

Update: have heard from both Otho and Boat US, the former looking into the repairs, the latter sending a claims type down to look at the damage. The contractor who dropped the pole apparently has a long history of damaging boats insured by Boat US according to the claims rep who called.

Bad day at the Marina

I keep Lucy E. in a slip at the Colonial Beach Yacht Center, overwintering her on her trailer at the marina, generally works well. Yesterday I received a call to let me know that a contractor dredging and moving spoils around the marina too down a power pole which managed to snag my mast on the way ...

Not an obvious lubrication problem: enough grease coming out the collar to keep the Golden Arches in business for a year. Curious observation: I had mentioned earlier the differences in the 2000 manual mentioned by Craig and the 2003 PDF version I had, though both refer to a steering friction adjust...

Good point, Dimitri. I'll take my lube gun with me down tomorrow. Hopefully that's it.

[quote="Dimitri-2000X-Tampa"]Dubraque, when you grease your steering sleeve on the motor, does grease come out of the fitting on the top? Dimitri: I hadn't greased the motor since spring commissioning, but the first thing I did after determing it was the motor that was binding was to greas...

Thanks, Craig. Curious observation, the 2000 manual you referenced notes the friction adjuster without reference to type (tiller or remote control), suggesting tightening it to prevent motor movement while trailering. The 2003 PDF manual I have on my computer lists the friction adjuster only under t...

Thanks, Randy. However problem is in motor in my case: after disconnecting the steering from the motor steering becomes light and responsive, and moving the disconnected motor by hand without load (sitting in the slip) requires much more effort than it should. I assume that there is a means for incr...
