Re: Roller reefing main for the 26X

I can't speak to the relative 'sturdiness' of the mast on a Mac vs my Odin 820, but as Jack previously replied, I have had my roller furling main for 6 seasons and absolutely loved it. Easy to install........easy to hoist.....love the full battens.......I believe it was manufactured in Europe where ...

Re: If not a MacGregor

Having been in a position of owning a) an Odin/Imexus b) a Macgregor 26x c) a Hunter 356 and d) visited the owner of the Mach 28 in Australia, perhaps I can add some insight to the discussion. I am NOT a dealer by the way, nor have I ever been. I'm just a boat whore ;-) I am more like the original po...

Rich, is that lonnnggggg bungee enough to hold the generator in place mounted on top of your outboard? I would think it could fall right off if someone's wake came thru the anchorage to fast/high. Or do the rubber feet 'lock' somehow? Please advise.

Ah, but then a AAA membership can sometimes be cheaper and more peace of mind and less gear to haul with you. Just keep in mind you have to pay an upcharge on your annual membership for trailer inclusion.

OK, I'll bite, but where would you PLACE the unit? Would you attach it to the vent hole? But how would you get it in-line BELOW the vent hole for it to work properly. AM I missing something here?

Well, I'm considering the Suzuki- Etec swap myself so I am THRILLED to talk to someone who has already done it. Here are my questions: 1) Noise: you mentioned it was slightly noisier. I particularly liked how quiet my Suz was at 1000 RPM's or slightly above. You couldn't even hear i and cockpit conv...

Frank.........hull yes, it's easier to go on a plane to dump it, but there are times when you'd like to dump it when you are at dock (or at anchor) before you go out and dont' want to screw around in crowded areas going up on plane to be able to dump ballast. So it's good to know how long and how mu...

OK..........now even after all your responses I'm STILL not sure I know the answer to what this thing will effectively pump. Could you translate into english please/? :-) If the ballast holds 200 gallons, how long is it going to take to pump out over the side. For just pumping out the bilge, I would...

Simple. Because a Sabre can't navigate in as little as 9" of water, can't sleep as many in as small a length, can't be trailered as easily, can't quickly covert from sailboat to powerboat, can't drag a waterskiing kid around and would cost 5x what I paid for my Mac. It still doesn't stop me wa...

Axles or attachment hangers can be bent askew when hitting a pothole, curb or speed bump at high speed while loaded, and the tread separation can get started at the same time. A recipe for a very quick blowout before you even realize something might be wrong. I thought that might have been the case...

A new twist to my original post here about my tire blowout last month. Well guess what? The radial/bias ply mix was only part of the problem. When I finally took my trailer in to get the spare replaced, they noticed that my front axel of my tandem axel trailer was NOT attached at 90 degrees to the f...

Do you really do this in "heavy weather' on the Mac???? Due to the light weight of the Mac I would think that the boat would twist and turn with each wave and wind gust to 'pop' you out of your stable hove to condition (not counting the leeway issue mentioned). I could do heavy weather ok in my...
