Re: FYI: Low cost GPS solution

My buddy had his I-Phone loaded and working on a recent trip off Vanc Island and into Desolation sound. We had the main system plus 2 backup GPS and his I Phone. Luckily too, as the main unit kept locking up at inoportune times, so the I Phone became main backup as the other handheld Garmins were ha...

Re: Kicker mount on Mac X, starboard mount

Kelly, well put. I've also got a 4 HP Nissan, but the long shaft, so even a couple more lbs. Every year it's getting harder to deal with even getting it onto the dinghy. I've yet to do the aux motor mount, but will do this fall, as my main is an older carb'd Nissan 50 2 stk, which doesn't really idl...

SAIL

Definitely knockoffs of the Yamaha design, I saw somewhere they even advertise parts will work in Yamaha motors, etc, at much less cost.
Depends how you feel about the new experts in copying technology!!

Disconnect the cable from the Bracket and motor, and start pushing things to see what is binding, If you have the nissan/tohatsu, go get a lube nut ( Tilt tube nut with a zirc fitting) and install as soon as possible.[/quote] Waternwaves, can you clarify what/where the Zirc fitting goes. I assume th...

Randy, quite a bit more than that in southern Alberta, even for just a mooring. That said, we both get lots of free ice for drinks and coolers!! for WAY too much of the year.
How's sailing at Slave L?? Never been up there.

New Topic, question for Chip/AUX MOTOR mount

Chip, noticed you have a small Aux motor, which looks like one I'd just bought this summer, long shaft Nissan 4 HP in my case. Do you have any pics, suggestions or instructions as to what mount you'd used, where it's located etc. Do you find it elevates enough to get out of the way when heeled etc. ...

Contact west of Calgary

Krusti, I sail out Ghost Lake, west of Calgary and Cochrane, towards Banff on Hwy 1A. Contact at the lake is Mike of Ghost Lake Recreations, a Mac dealer, often trade'ins on his newer boats. See http://www.ghostlakerecreations.com/ for a website. Not sure if it's current on the boats for sale or not...

Rolf, is your new motor a short (15"?) or long shaft. Let us know how it moves the beast as a backup motor, once you get the garelick bracket working.

Your Gen install pics

Tahoe Jack, I noted in the 1st of the 3 pics that there is another set of teh aluminum channels located further forward than the set you have the starboard installed in in picture 2. Is this actually what I'm seeing in the picture, or is this some other channel or groove type material for another pu...

Yes, nothing at all wrong with a Honda if you can access it in your area at those competitive costs. Where I'm at, the differences are about $300 US for the 1000 and almost $ 450 US at the 2000 size, hence my earlier suggestion.

Or for another gen option, the KIPOR line, whcih is manufactured in China. Sold in Europe for some time, but pretty new to N.America, they're lower cost option but still inverter technology, so reduce speed, noise and fuel consummed as load drops, using a smart throttle approach. I've been looking i...
