Re: Is Denia (Alicante) to Ibiza possible?

As far as I undertsnad it, it is only for Spanish registered boats. And also as I understand it, it is leggally forbidden to sail a Spanish flagged boat past the zones for which it is allowed.

Re: Is Denia (Alicante) to Ibiza possible?
But I never saw the rule that is forbidden to cross a water that is bigger than 12miles. So far I crossed 2 times from Corsica to Italien main land. That is more than 60miles... But we watched that we had good forecast...
hi Kurz....This is a Spanish Government rule and only covers...

Re: Is Denia (Alicante) to Ibiza possible?

Just to follow up on this in case anyone needs info for the future, and also important info for sailing in Spanish Med. I was offered a very good mac and trailer for €12,000. But in the end I decided not to buy it due to the fact that the Med. sea around Spain is divided into 7 zones. A boat can onl...

Transom looks a bit rough???

Hi guys, I went to visit a 26x today. Overall it was ok. The forward hatch isn't in great shape but what struck me the most - and thanks to some of you guys' advice - was the motor which looked pretty old and the general transom area looked pretty rough. The wood behind the motor is in need of repai...

Re: Going to view a 26X - any advice?

Thanks for the advice guys - it really helping a newbie and his family get onto the water and learn how to sail. The motor is a Honda BF50c. He says the carburetor need cleaned but it runs fine, 'as you can see from the videos'. I can see from his photos he has an original Mac trailer. (******update...

Going to view a 26X - any advice?

Hi guys, After many many years of wanting to get a boat, I am going to see a 26X tomorrow. I am a complete newbie. I have watched as many videos and read as much as I could about these boats, but I have never sailed bymyself nor owned a boat. Tomorrow is an initial inspection only - no sailing. Ever...

Re: Is Denia (Alicante) to Ibiza possible?

Yes. The original Irish and Scots are the same people. I say 'original' because Scotland and the north of Ireland have a lot of decendents of english planters.

We speak the same language and share a lot of the same culture....and both sets of people are a little mad!.

Re: Is Denia (Alicante) to Ibiza possible?

haha! no, no kilt. The kilts are more used by our Scottish brothers, although a lot of Irish guys wear them when they get married....its way to cold for kilts! We have a part of our military that wear kilts for official celebrations (picture below), but it isnt common! (Killter is a nickname from or...

Re: Is Denia (Alicante) to Ibiza possible?

Thank you guys. I would be more than happy to motor across and put up the sails when /if possible (there's often no wind in this area in August). I am in no hurry with the passage as I will have 4 or 5 weeks free when I get to the islands. So if it takes a little longer and everyone is safe, its no ...

Re: Is Denia (Alicante) to Ibiza possible?

Hi guys. Thanks for the advice guys. The missus will be with us to help and the kids listen to us. Lots of good advice... Thanks. Now the main doubt is can a macgregor physically do it. I know weather and my experience is a the main factor, but its a 130km journey, even though the Med is generally c...

Re: Is Denia (Alicante) to Ibiza possible?

Thanks for the reply.

The fear is having the kids on board. Im good on the sea and on boats but having the rug rats on board is a different ballgame. But planning, safety drills and safety gear will so the trick.

Re: Is Denia (Alicante) to Ibiza possible?

Thanks guys.

Kurz, I completely agree and understand. My main doubt was if the boat could physically, actually do it.

Thanks Kurz and Svscott.
