Reversing in the marina
Hey guys! Firstly I want to let you know that my boat is finally ready and staying at the nearest marina! I also want to thank you for all the help that you guys provided during all the recuperation of the boat. In the meantime, I new question has popped up regarding the way she sails. Namely, while...

Help getting a Bimini
Hey everyone, I am almost finishing my restoration of the my 26s and only now realized that I am still missing a bimini... :? Howver just by looking at the boat, I can see already that this is going to be a difficult one due to space restrictions. So, considering that I have seen some nice photos of...

Size and type of water tank
Hey guys, What is the size of the water tanks you use? I was planning to install a Plastimo triangular soft tank in the bow berth, but unfortunately they only make triangular shaped tanks with a capacity of 120 liters and I am afraid it might be too much weight for the boat (26S). I also have the op...

Re: Mac 26S - The Road so far
I honestly don't know what happened with the center boat..... When I bought the boat it was in the water, so some aspects I couldn't see. She was used thoroughly in shallow waters so it might have bumped quite a lot in the bottom and damaged it. She was stopped in the marina for a long time before I...

Re: Mac 26S - Sea Worthy?
As a curiosity, I just checked and could happily conclude that the conditions that I am planning to sail upon are very similar to the ones registered in San Francisco's Bay. :D Given the amount of videos and people I read about that sail with Macs there I am hoping that when I have enough experience...

Re: Mac 26S - Sea Worthy?
Thanks for your reply guys! Sumner, The wave period in this passage is always above 8 seconds. I plan to attempt that passage when signficant wave height is 1.2 or less, but I admit that depending on how well it goes I might stretch it to 1.5m. As for wind I will never do it in a day with wind gusts...

Mac 26S - Sea Worthy?
Hey there! Finally, the repairs/improvements being done to the Mac 26S I bought last summer are approaching its end, and I hope to have the boat in the water by June! The boat will be on a Marina in Lisbon, Portugal, close to where we live, so I will be able to use it nearly everyday in the river Ta...

Re: Water ballast - Close it permanently?
Gazm, my idea is not to use the boat without ballast (I think a 26S must always be used with the ballast on). My idea to close the bottom valve is to prevent future malfunction given that the boat will be almost always in the water and corrosion/deterioration of the valves will certainly occur. Also...

Water ballast - Close it permanently?
Hello, I am currently repairing/restoring a Mac 26S. While repairing I also took the opportunity to do some mods which have increased the weight. (I added a coolbox next to the sink, 2 batteries (25kg each), solar panel, 120 liters water tank, bow anchor, and a marine head unit). This weekend while ...

Portable Cooler
I am currently thinking about buying a Mobicool Portable cooler for my 26C. http://www.mobicool.com/en/product/fr40/ However due to the dimensions of the cooler (aprox 60cm x 40 cm) I do not know if it would fit. Since I am currently away from home, can any of you guys tell me the dimensions of the ...

Re: Which motor for Macgregor 26C?
Sumner thank you very much for making it crystal clear!
It's settled. I will buy a 10 HP with electric start and if possible extra long shaft.
Thanks for the advice once more.
