Looking forward to following your updates Chinook
We'll be in the Ucluelet area June 18-21, but I don't think you'll be around that far yet!

R2AK - a Macgregor entered!
Hey folks! I loosely follow the Race 2 Alaska every year, as it transits the coastline of my home province, BC. Partly I follow the race because whoever does the writing for that site is genius and I find almost everything hilarious. I also like to see what entrants come up with to meet the requirem...

Re: Did anyone tried an electric outboard?
I've owned an M for 2 seasons now. I definitely understand the OP's desire to get an electric outboard, and I have done some research myself. My reasons for wanting one included: - My boat came with a 20hp motor bolted through the transom; couple this with living in a townhouse and storing my boat i...

Re: Finally, a wind instrument that will work with a Mac!
snip Sure, the wind direction figures that now appear on my plotter are wrong, BUT the pilot simply doesn't care. All he looks for is the CHANGE in wind direction. Sure, whenever I tack or gybe I have to press those two buttons again, but hey...When I sailed from Falmouth to Scilly recently - 65NM ...

where would you sell a sail and boarding ladder?
Hi - I'm wondering where people on the forum have had luck selling equipment? I posted a lightly used genoa on Kijiji but have had zero replies and almost zero views. Also a telescoping ladder that wasn't long enough to use on my M (darn high sides!) Anyways, I'm looking for feedback/suggestions (ie...

Re: Advice on buying 26M/X
We ended up with an M, partly because it is supposed to sail better (I haven't sailed an X), newer was nice, and my wife liked the looks better. What we discovered after (ie in 2017, less then one year of owning it) though is that our boat has lots of small blisters, like the pox, on the bottom, whi...

Re: Solar Panel Reinforcement and Outboard / Grill Mount Mod
I mounted our solar panel almost the exact same way. Works quite well. I adjusted the angle for the winter sun and it kept my batteries nicely topped up, even with the 4 months of cloud and snow we get here (helped keep the snow off too without intervention). I did zap strap my wires to the arch tho...

Re: Furling Main
I've been looking at my mandrel (the roller part), and I noticed a bushing on the mast end of it as well. Looking back at JimmyT's photos of his set-up on page 1, it looks to me like I could get a bracket fab'd up like his and add that to my system. All of the more expensive systems seem to use a br...

Re: Love My Heavy Sails
@Judy B, I'm looking for a jib sail, and am leaning towards a tri-radial Warp-Drive. In your reply, you note that the Warp-Drive will have a better shape and maintain it longer then any crosscut Dacron sail, but flipping through http://www.hydesailsdirect.com/Macgregor-26m-Headsails-s/38928.htm, the...

Re: Your Opinion on new Sails for a 26M
Well, I went down the rabbit hole tonight reading all about different types of sail cloth, cuts, etc. :o and :? Now I kinda want to get a radial cut sail with either Warp Drive or Hydranet (I don't want a laminate - mildew etc) instead of the more typical crosscut Dacron. I'm not sure if I'm getting...

Re: Cr@p dropped the mast
. . . if those snaps are longer than the original factory screw pin shackles your baby stays are now too long and 1/2 inch length on the baby stays will add 1/2 foot of travel to the mast at the crutch. Tom could probably do a cad drawing to get the exact calculation that shows the ratio of travel ...
