Re: Your Opinion on new Sails for a 26M

Blue Water Yachts is having a sale right now on their Mylar/Mylar jib. Like $600.00 I think. That's a really good deal!

Re: Your Opinion on new Sails for a 26M

I ended up getting the BWY sails that I was looking at. I couldn't be happier! The boat is completely different in how she sails. Much better in every metric. I can't say enough about how much better the boat is and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Re: Your Opinion on new Sails for a 26M

Seems a reasonable option, I went with the BWY sails, I believe they are a good quality while not emptying the bank account too much, I would of loved Judy B (Hyde sails) but import rules here would of made them prohibitive in cost when all the extras were added on. Asymmetrics are not meant for de...

Re: Your Opinion on new Sails for a 26M

Well, I have decided on the BWY sails. I'm going to get the flat top main with two reef points and the Jib. I think it will be a different animal all together. Apparently the the main is 5.0 Dacron and the Jib is 5.5. Sounds like it will last a lot longer and sail a heck of a lot better. The only dr...

Re: Your Opinion on new Sails for a 26M

I purchased a new sail from BWY in 2015, It is a square top 5.0 dacron, 2 reef points, full battens Note the square is a little rounded on the top and not like some of the images I have seen on this site. It also has a loose foot. I do not need to remove the top batten when adding the sail cover. T...

Re: Your Opinion on new Sails for a 26M

That's pretty funny stuff Ray! Is that a furled Genoa or a handkerchief? :) It must have been blowing pretty good there. I've been known to leave the jewelry out once in a while too. Thanks for the info. I have the stack pack that Blue Water Yachts makes and imagine I would have to take out the batt...

Re: Your Opinion on new Sails for a 26M

I have a flat head main, and I enjoy it. When the wind picks up, because of the extra cloth you have up high, you will find yourself either letting out more mainsheet, or reefing earlier than you are accustomed to. Ray http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m302/amigamanhalevy/Picture001.jpg Is that yo...

Your Opinion on new Sails for a 26M

So we're probably ready for new sails on our 26M and I'm getting ready to bite the bullet and get them. We currently have the 135% Genoa and single reef stock mainsail. If you don't know the effect of worn out sails, we are experiencing greatly increased heeling and reduced performance as sail shape...

Where's Bill from Boats for Sale

I sent him a check for those cool EZ cleats he makes back on the 7th of March and have called, emailed and reached out any way I can. Has anyone heard from this guy or does anyone know about him. The website is http://www.boats4sail.info/home.html

Hope he's ok. Plus I want my cleats! :(

Re: Trailer Jack wheel

For ease of turning while loaded, I totally agree with the idea of maybe adding a thrust bearing or something. It seems like there is quite a bit of tongue weight on the poor wheel... I found this under mods. The larger caster and wheel with a thrust bearing might do the trick. Probably end up costi...

Re: Trailer Jack wheel

It's not a greased item. It's on concrete pad west of the garage. Yes, the big problem is getting the wheel to turn. I think I am going to buy a frame mounted 8" wheel and try that. The stock Mac wheel has a sleeve about 1 1/2" deep that attaches with a hitch pin. It's pretty flimsy. Here'...

Trailer Jack wheel

I have a 2012 aluminum trailer and have to maneuver the boat into its resting place by hand. With the boat loaded the wheel on the trailer jack just doesn't like to turn worth a sh**. I was thinking of buying a bolt on on trailer jack, AKA. jockey wheel, or fabricating a new caster using a 10" ...

Re: Blue Gel Coat

For anyone who wants to know, I ended up calling Blue Water Yachts in Washington. They have the blue, white and even a couple of the tan. They have a lot of cool stuff for the Mac and lots of factory parts as well.

Blue Gel Coat

Has anyone got their hands on a color code or some blue gel coat to match the mac? I have a 2012 26M and the previous owner wasn't the greatest care taker of the boat. It has a couple of gouges on the side that need gel coat. t\The other scratches I think I can color sand and rub out. I only need an...

Re: Prepping the M

Got a pair of hitch pins and they work great! just remove the spreaders, put the mast in position and lash the spreaders to the mast using Velcro straps my wife made for me (we use Velcro to lash the head stay to the mast and all the rigging as well. Quick, easy and strong. ). Just want to make sure...
