Re: Toilet Bowl Wax... In-Hull Transducer Mounting

Very nice write-up Flyboy. Thank you. I considered mounting my transducer in wax but living in the desert the inside of the hull can reach temperatures high enough to either melt the wax or soften it enough that the transducer would slide out of place. With that in mind I decided to mount it with RT...

Re: First post from a Newbie

Not to worry, TBT's have been banned in the USA since the late '80s except for special permit use on larger ships and in some outdrive spray coatings (later banned here in the '90s). So, unless you hauled you new 26M out of a time machine or it had its bottom done by a guy named Fong alongside an a...

Re: Tiller Length

Are the pintle holes really at the waterline? They sit a few inches above it on my 26d.

Re: Two minutes too late... dropping the sails

It really is easy to forget that you have the inflatable vest on. After my wife and I came in from paddling around on our canoe she decided to go swimming with our granddaughter, forgetting that she was wearing the life vest.... Yep, you guessed it.

Re: Rigging the anchor - when? (No anchor locker)

While towing my Mack my dinghy rides in the back of my truck. My anchors clear the dinghy as long as I'm going straight but if I have make any sharp turns they may hit so I keep my anchors in the truck and put them on the bow roller before backing into the water.

Re: Mooring / Docking single handed

And here's how to moor a boat... Roll em... 8) Well, that was...ummm..."scenic"...Good to know I'm not too geezed out to appreciate a good bow cleating. Still, I don't think the Admiral would approve that particular expenditure, no matter how handy it might be to have one of those aboard....

Re: Stuck in irons.. help please.

The problem you're experiencing here is due to sail balance. The force on each sail can be thought of as a single force located about 1/3 of the way back from the leading edge. This is called the center of effort (CE). With multiple sails the CE of each sail adds together to form a single resultant ...

Re: Mooring / Docking single handed

Just think of how lucky we power sailor owners are, at any point we can grab a huge handful of throttle to get us out of situations, we may have a lot of freeboard but conventional boat owners dont have a huge prop to help back out if you think you got it wrong. That would definitely be an advantag...

check these out- a bit similar- but do a bit more too!
Looks even better, about twice the cost but would probably have bought one if I had seen it first.
Twice as much? I paid $15 for my extendable boat hook. This is $150. Way cool though.

Re: Two minutes too late... dropping the sails

I still haven't found a good reference on how to reef my sails for my 26D. I'll be spending 3 days on her this week, so I'll bee looking at how to set the tension on the clew on my boom. I know the tack cringle goes on the gooseneck and the clew cringle goes to the boom and the other cringles are g...

Re: The trouble with dry docking no electricity

Okay, my price recollection may be a little off but it's still pretty cheap. I had very good luck with this model. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Solar-Powered-Car-Auto-Boat-Motorcycle-12V-Battery-Maintainer-Trickle-Charger-/331797574446?hash=item4d40ad332e:g:6vgAAOSwmmxW3qnA Being a trickle charge it can...
