Re: I sold my 26M... :( small cockpit didn't workout for me.
I find the :macx: cockpit to be large enough but I sure wish we had the :macm: lollypop steering pedestal as well You can purchase the M pedestal from BWY I believe... I did a mod where I cut down the side panels on the X pedestal and squeezed it 6" smaller to make it have a smaller footprint....

I sold my 26M... :( small cockpit didn't workout for me...
I sold my 26M today. I am very sad... I really wanted this boat to work for me & my family, but it just wasn't working out. Let me say this first - I love :macm: for what it is. Last time I went out on the boat last week, I got everything dialed in, and the GPS speed reached 7.5MPH. I was ...

Re: Pedestal Cover DIY?
dthiesmeyer,
I noticed that you sail out of Lake Erie Metropark??? I was slipped there for several weeks in July.
I think I have seen your boat on the trailer.
Are you still at Lake Erie Metropark?

Pedestal Cover DIY?
I have later generation
, and want to make a pedestal cover out of sunbrella UV fabric.
My wife is pretty good with sawing machine, and we have a pretty strong Pfaff sawing rig.
Is there anyone done this? Would you mind sharing the pattern with me, or point me to how to make this?
Thank you.

Re: What's the best way to speed up mast raising / rigging
Thank you for all who posted a reply here. I understand that everyone has different needs and wants. For me, if it takes 45 mins to launch and 45 mins to retrieve every time I go out for sailing, Mac is not for my family. Especially at the end of the day, we are exhausted and we just wanna go home q...

What's the best way to speed up mast raising / rigging
MacGregor video says "Rigging and Launching takes 10 minutes" Yeah right. No way this can happen in 10 minutes. For rigging and mast raising, it took me about 1 hour for the first time. 2nd and 3rd time around, I got better at it and I can do it in about 30 mins but that's still too long. ...

Highlander: Oh My God. That'll scare the S**T out of me and my family. No way I'd be able to do that. And you have TWO jibs!!! You can't get enough power or something???? my gosh. How fast can you move? dlandersson: I have 150% genoa on roller furling. It is infinitely easier to just unroll the geno...

Re: My first 26M - First 2 week experience in SE Michigan
Few questions: 1. Rotating mast - it doesn't rotate smoothly at all. Sometimes it rotates on tacking, but sometimes it doesn't. I can barely rotate it with my hand. What's the point of rotating mast, if it only rotates when it wants to? 2. Rudder Control Authority - The rudder seem to have varying d...

My first 26M - First 2 week experience in SE Michigan
Hello all I bought my :macm: few months ago (my first boat), and with weather warming up and kids in summer break, I decided to put the boat into water. My very first day of getting out in the water : Lake St Clair metropark marina. It was a windy day. It was my first time, so it took an hour to rig...

Re: Rotating Mast on 26M - how sticky is it supposed to be?
When the mast is down, does the base bracket rotate freely by hand? You may want to remove the bracket from the mast and check the torque on the rotating assembly. My boat has 1 bronze or brass bushing. I keep it lubricated with evinrude grease and it rotates well. Yes it rotates freely. I tightene...

Rotating Mast on 26M - how sticky is it supposed to be?
I spent few hours on my drive way rigging up my :macm: for the first time before I head out to the lake. Had some issues, but I got the mast up. But the rotating mast seem to be almost impossible to rotate with my hand. Very sticky. It appears that all the rigging and weight of the jib, sail and boo...

Can I wash the cushion covers in a washing machine?
Will it damage the cover or the washer?
How about the cushion on V berth or rear berth? How do you guys clean them?
Thank you in advance.

Re: added a second axle
Recently bought my 26M, came with the factory original aluminum trailer. (2007 26M) I towed it behind a GMC Savana 1500 for 120 miles. It drove alright. But I've been thinking about adding a second axle. Does the factory original aluminum trailer use torsion beam suspension? Should I just add 2nd ax...

Re: Should I remove bottom paint??
Thank you to all who replied.
I will leave the bottom paint as-is for now, as many of you suggested.
I don't know how I will use the boat really, so I'll just go along, until i know what I want for sure.
Thanks everyone.

Should I remove bottom paint??
Hello all, My new (to me) Mac 26M has black anti-fouling bottom paint on. I do not know how the previous owner was using the boat - but the bottom paint is in decent condition. But I will be storing the boat on the trailer in the storage. I will be a daysailer, or may be 3-4 days of cruising at max....
